1. Hardfork 21 goes live next Tuesday
Steem's 21st hardfork will take place on Tuesday 27 August 2019, 11am EDT / 3pm UTC.
The hardfork will introduce changes to the rewards curve, and it will change the rewards division to a 50:50 split between creators and curators. It will also introduce free downvotes.
The other major element of the hardfork will be the implementation of the Steem Proposal System (Steem DAO)...

2. Splinterlands surpasses USD1million in card transactions
Splinterlands (aka @steemmonsters) has announced that the community has now collectively completed over 1,700,000 card transactions for more than US$ 1 million.
The $1million has remained with the players, including the 5% market fee which has been returned to the community through tournament prizes.
Splinterlands is currently preparing for another Kickstarter campaign that will launch shortly...
Splinterlands is also running a contest with Traps.one from the TRON blockchain...
3. Steemhunt launches Social Media Big Mac Index Calculator

4. Steem Foundation seeks Marketing Committee volunteers
The currently being formed Steem Foundation is now recruiting members for its first working committee - the Marketing Committee.
They are looking for a number of volunteers with marketing experience to join the committee.
There will be a selection process that closes on 12 September...
The Foundation will also begin recruiting shortly for the Development & Investor Relations Committee.

We can clearly see less excitement and engagement on Steem lately.

I think people are a little bit worried about the effects of the changes but I'm optimistic that this will stir the pot and bring about some new levels of engagement from the community.
