Could this be a possible solution for Steem's promotion?
How are things everyone?
The last few days and due to the "bear market effect" witnesses, developers and also simple users are trying to come up with possible solutions in order for steem blockchain to make one more step forward. Whoever was "present" at the The State of Steem Forum 2 which was almost a 4 hour radio show, could easily understand the concerns but also everyone's hopes on what we can achieve as a community.
Unfortunately due to time zone difference, I wasn't able to listen to the whole show, so what I am about to propose might have already been proposed by someone yesterday and for that I apologize in advance if that's the case.
My perspective is that Steem blockchain has huge potential. I mean really huge. But this is already known right? Right. It is also very undervalued. Why? Because people out there don't know what we know. They don't know the possibilities...
I don't think we have lack of good developers and such. Quite the opposite I would say. Considering all those amazing dapps that have been created over the last year, I would say that we are fortunate to have some top notch devs around here.
What we don't have, is the way to promote Steem to the masses.
A few days back community discussed the proposal of whether it would be a good thing to place adds on the platform.
What if we could create a nice add and pay some very popular sites a decent amount so they can place it on their platform? Wouldn't that be a really good way to promote STEEM not only to those who are familiar with cryptocurrencies but also to those who have complete ignorance on that matter?
Is it doable? Can we afford it as a community?
And I mean "US". Simple users, investors, bloggers, vloggers...the community....not Steemit inc.
If the answer is "YES" on both of these questions I see no reason why this wouldn't work...
PS. Even if it is a way too expensive proposal (which I wish it isn't) I would gladly contribute to that cause and I am pretty sure many of us would do the same.

Mate, I would even put an add on my bedroom's wall if that would help Steem's price to climb high :P :P

steem price should first be attractive first so that newcomers won't get so frustrated when starting. Steemit for one thing is lacking in some features like private messaging as well.
Can you imagine how many people would spam messages asking for upvotes and such?
In my opinion price has nothing to do with it. We just need to educate people and spread the word. Price will eventually go up only through high demand

Fully agree with you...
Since months I’m insisting on marketing and business plan for Steem...
We have the best useable blockchain, the best dapps...but we don’t know how to sell it
