Yes! It's here! Welcome to episode 2 of Coffee and Crypto. I am your host, Ken @kenmelendez, excited to drink some good coffee and share quality insights on the latest cryptocurrency trends.

What is Coffee and Crypto all about?

I felt inspired to create a weekly show to help inspire and serve the community. I wanted to create something fun and interactive where awesome people like you could gain massive value and be entertained at the same time. The only way that I could accomplish such a feat was if I combined two of my favorite things...coffee and cryptocurrency.

This show will be shot in different formats and different locations as the weeks go by. In fact, I plan on shooting 1 or 2 shows with live guests while I am up in Toronto for the Steem Creators Conference and SMT Summit next month. If you are interested in talking about cryptocurrency and would like to be on a future show, feel free to leave a request in the comments below.

What happens each week?

Each week I will be consuming some type of coffee whether that be hot, iced, or some type of mystery item. You will begin to notice a trend of the type of coffee I enjoy the most. Also, each week I will be picking a topic to cover in regards to cryptocurrency that you guys will provide feedback on. For example, this episode is about Bitcoin because it is where I got my start in the crypto world.

At the end of each episode, I will ask you to comment below with questions you have on that topic. If you are one of the first 3 people to comment with a question, I will send you a @steemmonsters booster pack. If you comment after the first 3, then I will still gladly mention your username in the video and in the blog text.

All about Steem

Steem is my absolute favorite cryptocurrency of all time and I discuss why that is during the video. The pilot episode of Coffee and Crypto focused on my first investment, Bitcoin, which then quickly blossomed into full immersion in the Steem community.

What I intended on doing is giving you fun coffee facts after each question but I forgot to research those before I shot the video. If you have any facts that you would like to share about coffee, please feel free to leave them in the comments.

Watching the episode in it's entirety is ideal, but if you would like to skip to a specific question, then please use the minute markers listed below.

Question 1 - @alamogirl (minute 5:07)

What is the big deal with SMT's and how are they going to help
Steemit?

Question 2 - @mrchef111 (minute 8:45)

When do you decide to take out cryptocurrency profits?

Question 3 - @karenmckersie and @khabir (minute 12:12)

How soon before Steem goes back up again? Will it be worth $10
someday?

Question 4 - @onefatindian (minute 16:37)

Will SBD's be removed from the platform? If not, why are SBD payouts on posts showing as $0.00?

Question 5 - @philo.phineas and @artbyclark (minute 18:20)

What are the key aspects of Steem that make it stand out as a
contender to be one of the top cryptocurrencies? What do you like
about Steem?

Question 6 - @chrisrice (minute 23:33)

Is the price of Steem correlated with the % of rewards being paid out
in 50% Steem and 50% Steem Power?

I had an absolute blast shooting this episode. A HUGE thank you to those who commented and left your questions on the previous episode. Without you, then I would be forced to come up with my own questions and that isn't as much fun.

I mentioned a couple resources during this video. The first one is @steemitblog which is where I receive the latest updates on what is happening on the development side of Steemit.com. If you haven't followed them, I highly recommend that you do.

The other resource that I mentioned is Teelkee.com where entrepreneurs can make their own apps without prior development knowledge. I first saw the announcement on this post that I resteemed on my profile.

Next week's episode

Alright guys...here is how I am going to do this. I am going to announce the topic of next week's episode, but I want to do it a bit differently. Instead of writing it out in text, I would rather you actually watch the video to find out the topic.

I will give you a hint and say that I announce the topic after I discuss the last question. Technically you could skip to the end and find out which is completely up to you. If you want to be one of the first 3 people to comment and win that free Steem Monsters booster pack, then please tune into the video.

You are able to view the episode on both @dtube and also on YouTube which I will link to below. You rock my friend and I appreciate you joining me today to discuss Steem. If you have any questions or comments not related to the material discussed today, please leave them below and I'll be sure to read them.

Take care my friend. And until next time...Stay awesome :)

Ken! I am just barely getting around to watching this video. Thanks again for the shout-out! What you outlined has pretty much been my strategy with crypto. I am so tightfisted, I haven't converted any yet to Fiat. It will be nice when it goes up again. I don't have any suggestions for improvement, I think what you have been doing works well, so keep it up. I do think you should do a taste testing segment, maybe at the beginning. lol. McDonalds black coffee vs. Wendys, Dunkin Donuts, etc. haha.

Congrats, you made the #steemitminute for today!

Greetings, @kenmelendez. Lots of memories with that video. As soon as i saw the road i sort felt i had been around there. I went to grad school in Athens, Oh. Went to Cleveland a couple of times; Columbus, Akron, Cincinnati. Best years of my life.
I remember trying to have a black coffee at coffee house on Main St and it was just impossible (the taste). I was so watered. I put sugar, cream, milk. Just did not taste like coffee at all.
Eventually i tried all kinds of combinations and fancy gourmet things and i ended up buying Puertorican coffee and preparing it myself at home :)
I went over the whole video and it is certainly better than reading. Some of the answers to the question gave me some sense of tranquility (especially regarding the price of Steem and the SBD). Great job, @kenmelendez

@hlezama I appreciate you brother! Quality comment you left here. So cool that you’ve been through Ohio. I’ve lived here my whole life haha. I bet that Puerto Rican Coffee is good! I love mine dark and bold. Glad you received value from this video buddy 😀 Can’t wait to release more 👍🏻

Hi Ken! I'm doing great! Thank you for all of the great info contained in this video and for answering my question. You did a wonderful job of explaining how SMT's are going to help Steemit. It helped put things more in perspective for me and helped me to understand how SMT's effect different cryptos. I'm also expecting for steem to rise to ten dollars, if not more than. I have high hopes for the Steemit because of all of the neat things surrounding it. I'm going to start investing a lot more into my account because of how much i believe in the platform. Thanks again Ken and have a wonderful day!

I understand what you mean about being able to talk about Steem all day @kenmelendez I feel the same way when I read one of your posts and watch one of your videos - it seems like one comment isn't enough to say everything I want to say.

I think you are right about Steem being more correlated with Bitcoin than the % of Steem & Steem Power that is issued.

I think you might also be right about Steem trending up again towards the end of the year, but I think it's also possible that Steem might continue to trend down or sideways until next year.

There is only one silver bullet that could kill Bitcoin, Steem and most of the altcoins. That is, if Russia, China and the United States created their own fiat crypto currencies and used all their computing power to destroy non-fiat cryptocurrencies.

I think that is a possibility so there is still some long-term risks with Steem, Bitcoin and altcoins but nothing in life is without risk and it's impossible to know if that will be the endcase scenerio for Steem, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

So we just hold on to our vision and know that our deepest desires might get fulfilled in unexpected ways. Words and even thoughts and ideas or more like metaphors than objective literal truths, you might get that Lamborgini Sports Car but it's also possible you'll get something else that the "sports car" represents in your heart, mind and soul.

Keep the good ideas and vibes flowing Ken! - You are doing great!! 👍

Solid post dude, I followed the same path bitcoin introduced me to steem... became interested wondering how the reputation worked and why I couldn’t mine it!

I still say bitcoin will remain dominant until a flaw is found otherwise people will hold onto it just like gold for the sake of being able to show off their shiny digital bling!

Appreciate you bud 👍🏻 Yeah, BTC is king for now. I still like me some Bitcoin every so often when I can take a breather from Steem (which is pretty much never lol)

QUESTION 1:

If D-Tube and other Dapps implement their own tokens via SMTs, will their users earn Steem and SMT cryptos at the same time, or will users stop earning Steem on Dapps like D-Tube in favor of SMT cryptos?

Thanks for this Chris. I'll add this to the show for sure!

You're welcome @kenmelendez!

I'll be listening to your next Steem video, and I will backtrack and listen to your Bitcoin video with @emaferice in the car.

I am interested in hearing what you have to say about Bitcoin.

thank you friend @kenmelendez for answering my previous question. I am very happy with your post. I think you are a very honest person to explore steemit's business. My next question is how do we get the trust from @dube to develop dtube in my area in Indonesia? my country is very much a social media user I would love to invite them to join the dtube platform. Thank you friend

You are SO welcome @khabir! I appreciate the kind words you left here. I will add your question to the discussion for the next video 💪🏻

I received a lot of value from this post, and that was only from reading it! But I am going to listen to the episode on the way home in our car via Bluetooth.

Btw, you did a great job at getting people pumped up to watch the video @kenmelendez I usually don't like watching videos but I am excited to hear what you have to say. I am also happy that you featured my question in the upload!
