This Bear Market is Helping to Build a Steem Middle ClasssteemCreated with Sketch.

Hi Friends!

For those who missed @pennsif's State of Steem Forum last Thursday - I would dare say it is a must watch for any Steemian. Even if you just put it on in the background while doing some work - it would be worth your while.

During the forum @aggroed made a comment that really perfectly summed up something I've been thinking about lately - he just put it in a way that made even more sense. That's the idea of forming a Steem Middle Class.

One of the biggest complaints people have with Steem - is that there are a few people at the top and the rest of us are fish in the sea hoping to get noticed by whales. This bear market is opening doors and giving the opportunity for many Steemians to become self made dolphins.

The easiest way to do this is obviously to invest fiat into Steem - but even posting during these low prices can yield some pretty impressive steem returns. @tarazkp just wrote a brilliant article earlier today outlining this very topic. It is definitely worth a read .

I hope you guys enjoy this vlog and hearing my thoughts on the subject. I am obviously no financial adviser, but I'm personally looking at ways to increase my stake during this bear market. From posting, to turning all my liquid steem and SBD to SP, to investing fiat where I can. It's a pretty exciting time because I know that the investments I'm making now will be so beneficial for years to come. Despite everything that has happened the last month - seeing the community come together makes me even more bullish on Steem than I was before.

Ps... the next State of Steem forum is this Thursday. You can check out the announcement post HERE for all the details.

Love you guys!

Xo, Lea

Nice perspective; the glass is half full in this situation. Most of the new money coming in is from people buying old holders coins. This sets up an excellent foundation moving into the future with broader distribution. In the scenario Steem survives and then thrives one day again, all this will be looked back on as a great thing that happened for Steem.

Thanks for the comment Dan! Or at least I assume your name is Dan... haha. Maybe they just call you that.

I totally agree that we will look back to this period of time as what really laid the foundation for all the growth we will (hopefully) experience. It's been so cool to see the community come together more than I've ever seen. Time will tell what happens - but I feel super optimistic!

I think so too. It hurts while it’s happening, but long term it will just be a blip in history.

It is going to be really interesting what happens when the price increases again because there are a lot of people who will have much louder voices than they have had before through their stake.

Agreed! I think this is shaking up the dynamics of power a bit. Or at least it has the potential to depending on how many people increase their stake during this market.

Yes, that is true! And those of us who feel like we may actually have s shot at having a presence and making a difference may look back on this time as “the good old days.”

It’s funny because what we all need and want is growth, stability, and tons of new members. But the actions and events that will make Steem soar to new heights are the same actions that will make a lot of people feel anonymous and unimportant.

You are right, it is a negotiation of sorts as many of us can get lost as the platform grows. This is why being part of/ building strong communities is so important as even while there could be millions of people on, a person can feel involved at a local level, much like in a large city or country.

I might write something a bout this :)

Thank you for the mention of the forums Lea.

Hope you get a chance to listen in to Forum #2 on Thursday.

The numbers of Minnows, Dolphins, Orcas and Whales are one of the key indicators I track on the SOS Daily News. They keep going up!

STEEM might be cheap today but it is too darn hard to earn it if you do not have a support from those that can give support.

Totally valid point @cryptopie. I do feel like right now is still a good time for creators to get noticed because there is less competition for attention because the active population is a lot lower right now. There are a lot of dApps out there such as Steempress, Dtube etc. that have delegations and looking for good content to reward. Sometimes it's easier for creators to get noticed and earn Steem by utilizing one of the Dapps if they are feeling stuck.

Well said @coruscate. Even as a natural pessimist, I think crypto has made enough of an imprint at this point that it will not just go away. And when it gets this low, there aren't many directions to go, but eventually up.

Thinking big picture when the chips are down is the only way to survive, and hopefully later, prosper.

all cryptos are connected with the god of cryptocurrencies "Bitcoin" when it goes up or down all of them are the same, it's good and bad thing at the same time , for now Bitcoin is going to 5500$ so maybe we can see Steem at least 0.5$ ? what do you think ?

Thank, since the fall of Steem I have been buying and accumulating Steemit $. I still think that Steemit will continue to fall slightly perhaps around the 30 Australian cents.
At present Steemit is at $0.3776 making it still one of the most attractive investment to buy.

Wisdom there... perhaps the folks that are seen as distancing themselves from this platform are just doing what they do… Which is to get involved with new projects, the way we all do. I’m not frightened by that at all.

Not everything “sticks “... some people lose interest or enthusiasm. If that is the case, that does not diminish their contribution to the Steem Community… everybody needs a breather anyhow, eh?

Besides, some of those people will wander back around when things look up again. Interestingly, every set of circumstances… And every event or transaction… Is an opportunity for somebody

not to be coarse, but I don't see a market if steemit doesn't get its head out of its rear and start acting like steem leaders or get out of the road and let the rest drive
