LeBron Signs With The Lakers (My Thoughts)

in #sports6 years ago

This was honestly where I thought he would go for a couple of reasons. For starters he purchased a home in Los Angeles over a year ago and with his sons and his daughter getting older the LA area could provide a good environment for the kids to develop athletically. Young little Brony is 13 and recently attempted his first in game dunk. He blew it over the rim but it was a good attempt and for only being 13 it is pretty crazy to think about. He is already like 6'1" and will probably turn into a complete man child in the next year or so.

Going to LA will really set him up going into high school and becoming a top recruit. It will be interesting if the NBA does away with the stupid rule of athletes having to be one year removed from high school to be eligible for the NBA draft. Then he could possible be in the league when Lebron turns 38 which would be really cool to see especially if they are on the same team. It will be the first time that has ever happened in the NBA. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though because it is projecting a 13 year old to be in the NBA when he has a lot of growth ahead of him.

Good Move For LeBron?

Personally I think so because he had two stints in Cleveland and was able to bring home a championship to them in 2016 which completed a promise he made to his city which was pretty cool. I wish we could have seen at least one more championship for Cleveland but it wasn't to be.

With his stint in Miami he was able to experience the Miami life style and enjoy that for awhile and now we will be able to go out to the West Coast and experience the California dream!

The deal is a 4 year $153 Million deal which leaves the opportunity to maybe even go back to Cleveland to finish out his career or go some place else. I think it is really cool because it kind of reminds me of Shaq's career in some respects. Shaq got to play for so many cool teams for his career and was able to win 4 championships.

The Unknowns

We don't exactly know what the team is going to look like yet at this point. We assume that Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingrim will still be there but we don't know what kind of other trades there will be and how that team will fit together.

Also it will make the Western Conference absolutely insane with Golden State, Houston, and LeBron's Lakers chewing each other up before the NBA finals. Will LeBron keep his streak alive of going to the finals 9 years in a row? It is hard saying with all that competition but I wouldn't count him out.

Will The East Be Anything?

I think we can still expect a lot out of the Celtics and the 76'ers. They both have a lot of promise and it will be interesting to see what Cleveland is able to put together at this point. In the past when LeBron has left a team their records have just fallen off a cliff and the team was decimated. It would be nice to see them still put a solid squad together and rebuild around a different player.

A Couple Of Reasons I Like LeBron

For starters I really like his work ethic, his high basketball IQ, and his competitive attitude. Also the story of his upbringing is pretty rough. He doesn't know his dad and that is still a mystery to this day and he didn't have a stable living situation growing up. Luckily things were able to get better for him into high school and he was able to be identified as the next great superstar in high school. He was also an excellent football player and woul d have most likely ended up playing in the NFL if he would have went that route. I'm honestly glad he chose to play basketball so we could see a longer career out of him.

Conclusion

It was the move everyone was waiting for and now everyone else can adjust their teams to attempt to deal with this and other changes. I think next year will be another exciting year for the NBA and could further build LeBron's legacy.

As far as the LeBron vs Michael Jordan argument I think it is an interesting thing to think about but it is hard to compare the two players in my opinion. Personally I thought it was awesome that Michael went and played baseball for a season and a half. It really made his story a notch more interesting than it would have been if he would have played his whole athletic career with the Chicago Bulls. I think that the fact that LeBron will ultimately play for more than one team his entire career is an interesting aspect vs some of the guys who played for the same team for all their years in the league. In a lot of respects I feel that LeBron and MJ are equally as good but different types of players.

Do you guys think LeBron made a good choice signing with the Lakers?

@brianphobos good for LeBron though

Yeah I think it will be a good move for him honestly. Hopefully they won't burn his jersey in Cleveland again.

Do you think he'll go back to Cleveland to finish off his career as a Cav?

He might but to be honest I think it is a little more unlikely. I have heard he doesn't really like the ownership of the Cavs. It is really hard to say in the end and it might come down to having a more stable situation for his kids and them going to school at that point so it might make sense to keep resigning with the Lakers or something if that went well. LeBron really likes coaching his sons and going to their games so that could be a big factor.

I think a real cool thing about LeBron is that he seems to be a great dad instead of cutting out like his dad did to him.

In my opinion, LeBron James is the legendary basketball player of the 21st century. At one time such was Michael Jordan. These are two of the strongest basketball players in the history of this sport. I remember how he played for Cleveland, watching a lot of matches. He pulled this team up and was a real leader.

Yeah he hit a lot of game wining shots which will be iconic moments in sports history.

I saw some headlines abp ut $200M. I think maybe that was Singapore dollars equivalent. Still hell of a lot of money.

Yeah he is pretty set. Hahahah. Just think of his kids as well. It would be hard to keep the kids level headed with all that money.

I think i read something about difficulty keeping the wealth after 3 generations
