NBA: The league has distributed prizes! Who is the best debutant?
The second gala of the NBA awards officially ended the 2017/2018 season. The league rewarded the best players of the season and solved a few puzzles. The biggest of them concerned who would receive the Rookie Of The Year award. Finally, it was in the hands of Ben Simmons of Philadelphia 76ers. See the full list of winners.
MVP – James Harden
Houston Rockets player was a brick candidate. He defeated LeBron James and Anthony Davis in this category. In 72 games of the last basic games, Harden recorded on average 30.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 8.8assists, scoring 44.9 FG% and 36.7 3PT%.
Rookie Of The Year - Ben Simmons
It was one of the biggest mysteries of the last season. Ben Simmons competed in this category with Donovan Mitchell and looking at the seasons of both players, it was really hard to decide. Eventually, the Australian was awarded. The third one to be considered was Jayson Tatum. Simmons in the past competitions recorded an average of 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists with 54.5 FG%.
Sixth Man Of The Year - Lou Williams
Here, too, everything seemed clear. Lou Williams has had a great season on the Los Angeles Clippers bench, he sometimes drew the team to win. He gets this distinction for the second time in his career. He defeated Eric Gordon and Fred Van Vleet in this category. He finished the past games by scoring 22.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists getting 43.5 FG% and 35.9 3PT%.
Defensive Player Of The Year - Rudy Gobert
A fully deserved award for the high Utah Jazz. He was terror for his rivals. He defeated in this category not just anybody, because Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid. In the 2017/2018 season, he recorded an average of 13.5 points, 10.7 sets and 2.3 blocks, reaching 62.2 of FG%.
Most Improved Player - Victor Oladipo
After his move to Indiana, his talent just exploded. Victor Oladipo was also a surety to the award for the player who made the most progress. His attitude allowed Pacers to become one of the biggest surprises of the past season. Oladipo recorded an average of 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists hit 47.7 FG% and 37.1 3PT%.
NBA Coach Of The Year - Dwane Casey
The award finally went to Dwane Casey, the trainer of Detroit Pistons. However, he received an award for the last games in Toronto. The Raptors were the best team of the East after the main season. Although many indicated that they were finally ready to break through LeBron James, the task turned out to be unfeasible. That's why Casey lost his job.
