Failed Selfies And My Learnings
To begin with, I was very excited when @thatindianlady started up a contest called #SelfieChallenge. I thought it was the easiest one and most of us won't even find it challenging enough. But since I didn't know this art, I thought I'd take part in it regularly. That way, I'll at least learn to take a good selfie of myself.
Heck, I was wrong! This contest seems to be a toughest one to me! I'm trying hard to learn the art of selfying but still not close to make my participation here. I did participate in the opening week as well as previous week but those were just like another entry and not actually in the run for prize. Here's my Week-1 Entry and Previous Week's Entry. This week @thatindianlady came up with a brilliant theme of Selfie with Sunlight (I love the alliteration in this phrase!).
Despite her example selfies, I was wondering how to take Sun and myself into one frame ...for it would certainly be an absolute mismatch 😜! So I had given up the idea of submitting my entry there.
My city has many amazing locations for watching Sunset and I love spending my time watching Sunsets on most evenings. Yesterday, while watching Sunset, it occured to my mind that I can try one selfie when Sun is almost down the horizon and isn't blinding enough for my camera. But before I could act, it went down in its hiding:
I've also learned that when you are not winning, you should look up-to the winner for the winning traits. If you can't win at least copy a winner ...may be you get a close second. So seriously, this time I thought to copycat and what could be better than copying a participant who always make a winning entry here 😉?
In this week's contest entry, I found the "Entry No. 2" posted by @himshweta to be the best one and attempted to copy it. Trust me @thatindianlady, it wasn't an easy selfie ...esp. against the Sun ...and what a timing and angle she got! Absolutely marvelous!!!

Well, yeah, now you can laugh ...laugh out loud 😀😃😂😅 😂 🤣!!! I give up!
It was really a difficult theme ...Sunlight from Sun in the backdrop can't illuminate my face for the camera.Secondly, this location was about 100 miles away from the one pictured in the original photograph by @himshweta. And lastly, I took this selfie the old-fashioned way ...from a feature phone without any front camera. This was how selfie used to be taken originally ...when we don't have much idea of what my camera's eye is actually capturing ...no post-preview option (as in Busy.org public beta version).
Although I ain't participating in this contest any more, it doesn't mean I didn't gain anything from this contest. Contests are not all about prizes. I know those whaleshares and @dse upvotes are not for me. But this contest has helped me to turn myself into a somewhat camera-friendly person now. I'm eager to click and get clicked and share own photos (You'll see more posts with photographs by me in the future ...just like this one 😜).

Selfie with the Sun doesn't illuminate my face too :D I checked out your profile because of your comment on my blog post. Are you only an Anti dairy campaigner or are you a Vegan campaigner too ? Just curios!
Ha Ha Ha! BTW the contest organizer doesn't insist on catching the Sun in your frame. Any picture with sunlight on you will do ...sunlight will in fact help illuminate your face better 😊. If you wish to participate, perhaps you have still got some time left for this theme.

Well, regarding vegan campaigning, I don't do it much these days. My city is predominantly vegetarian, so I mostly focus on campaigns for against dairy consumption, animal rides & their captivity. But I ain't too strict with my choice. I join vegan campaigning too esp. when I'm visiting other cities.

Oops I read it wrong I thought it was Sun instead of Sunlight. Anyway I think what you are doing is great, it is very difficult for Indians not to consume milk. I myself switched to Oats milk or Almond milk nowadays, I try to consume less diary. I am following you now :)
Yeah, dairy has strong association with Indian culture and most cuisines. But if anyone has strong ethics of non-violence and once he / she understands the truth behind dairy industry, it's much easier to quit. But I understand what you want to say, it's a fact that old habits die hard and any change requires conscious efforts.
