The Road to SteemFest 3: Fears
This is a continuation story sponsored by @anomadsoul and his idea for this week was mentioned in the last SteemFest 3 post here.

Only 2 weeks to go and this is likely to be next to the last Road to SteemFest 3 post by myself and everyone else that will be written. So what’s the last climatic one?
Fears…, OK so I try and write something substantial everyday on Steemit despite my inner self saying, ‘Why the fuck are you doing this?’, and maybe sometimes I’m a little philosophical while attempting to add some humour but honestly my biggest fear at SF3 is that I’m not a wonderful talker.
Could I get up and hold an audience on a stage? Perhaps for a short time, but I’m not one to extend the presentation and add some waffle and fluff to make it any longer that it should be.
You would get the facts and then I would be stepping down. In a group chat session, I will be the one mostly listening and adding something only when I think it’s relevant.
Are we going to have many of these at SF3? Twenty people all sat in a ring doing the Lotus position chatting about the STEEM block chain?
Sorry, but I will be running a mile from this kind of group interaction. I would not call it a fear of group socialising; it’s just not my method of conversation.
If you want to chat with me, make it a one-on-one or four people at the most and I will likely open up.
Fear of being insubstantial? I am not a confident person so bear that in mind if you want to talk or approach me.
Some of this I am telling you is quite personal but I think the image I portray with the maniac may be misleading, and the object of these Road to SF3 posts are after all a chance to get to know somebody before we meet them.
It could well be that I could act completely out of character as STEEM is something I'm reluctantly quite obsessed with right now (@steevc’s words haha!). We will have too see what happens.
My daughter, @dismayedworld was telling me about an expression several months ago, ‘Resting Bitch Face’. Google it if you are unfamiliar. She tells me she has one of these which renders her unapproachable to some.
I’m wondering if I have a ‘Resting Dog Face’? That might make some sense. We are what we are. I won’t bite your head off even if I’m wearing the dog face, so do come and talk to me.
As I mentioned the Lotus position earlier, just before I go something this is a little strange….
I heard that the Yoga position, the Full Lotus is extremely difficult and many Yoga masters can’t do it after years of practice.
So why can I, a middle-aged bloke that does the occasional jog, can’t touch his toes anymore and is not particularly fit still do it?

Nice post! I think you will do fine! There will probably be lots of interactions going on all over the place. Just find what works for you and stick with it. I am quite the same. Give me a small group and I can shine. Put me in a large crowd and I am totally out of my comfort zone!

If that doesn't break the ice, it's unbreakable. Then you can go get quietly drunk and bemoan the fact that you can't get decent fish and chips in Krakow.
I think you will find that Steemit will be just what you make it. A few interesting presentations and some people that you can talk to like you've known them for years. So you'll have somebody to take along looking for F&C when the presentation is 'not so good' :)

Oh no! I'll miss out on seeing you do the lotus position :( When I was a child I used to be able to do the lotus position while standing on my head. I can't do it now. I can do a handstand though!
No doubt someone will snap me doing a position I strictly no longer have a right doing!

The world is a stranger place than ever now since I joined steemit.
I am not sure why you joined or who told you about it?
@lovenfreedom joined first because we were regular watchers of the corbettreport. Then I laughed it off because I am antisocial network. Only to have her all excited one day because her little blogging for a month had grown to 300 dollars in value. She talked me into signing up.
Trust me I still don't feel comfortable here. There are many very talented people on this platform and I am nobody compared to them.
Your very lucky to be able to go to steemfest and meet the friends you have made here face to face. Maybe someday I will be able to do it.
I can only hope that you and @steevc will be proud of your friendship with myself and SFR. You two will be the only representatives we will have there. If you need any thing let us know? I know you two will do a great presentation for abuse fighting on the platform. LOL JK but please if you get a chance talk about @steemflagrewards. Have a great trip
Don't put yourself down man. You are doing great for SFR, and I will be mentioning my night-time 'before I go to bed' endeavours so some that I meet there.
I wont be getting up on stage though, as you have read beforehand its just not me.
I was using this picture when I first started out, so only my very first followers would know of my real looks identified such as @steevc and maybe @daan.
You guys are awesome I am very fortunate to be associated with you.
I bet you can overcome that fear of speaking I did it. At one time my knees would shake like it was freezing weather in the middle of summer. But now I enjoy interacting with an audience.
I think it is like fear of heights you have to focus on something other than your fear then you win.

I have and can speak in front of 100 people and have done it. Strangely enough it was in the US, not here.
You know that I have wondered that myself. How will the communication / conversations go at steemfest, what to expect. Often in this kind of gatherings people instantly think of "commune" kind of things. All does 'nerds' talking about crypto, blockchain and stuff. But frankly when I see the people I interact with on Steemit (like yourself) that hardly can't be the case :)... As far as for talking in or to groups, I don't have a problem with it but I do prefer smaller groups, it makes it (I think) so much more personal....
I'm not a great group talker. You should think at my age Im used to it, but if there's more than 4 I still feel my face going read if I have all those eyes on me. Sad case I know.
I will be waiting and offering 5 steem if you make that Lotus on a stage!! :D
But debating in groups of 20?? No no, I am also a listener as well of these kinds of things. Social things, yessss..but apart from that, hell no!
Just make sure you're busy with other things while chatting with a big group of people. Like running and talking all at once 🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃 or hey bowling? 😎
Think you will be doing fine when you're there. But I agree talking in a smaller group of people is always better for the interaction.
I'll ask you for your Lotus pose for sure! Good to have some company on the floor while I do my excercises.
I think the bowling is out for us as we dont arrive until Thursday eve, it may be too late. Will see you there though on Friday :)
Oh damn you will arrive after the bowling...
