Hello Newbies! It's another lovely Wednesday. By now some are getting use to the acronym AMAWED. Yes, it's the 5th episode of Ask Me Anything (About Steemit) Wednesday, popularly known as AMAWED.
What We Do At AMAWED?
As the name implies, newbies have the opportunity, on this blog, to pose whatever questions they have on their minds and be almost sure that they'll get answers from those who have been in steemit before them. Besides, we infuse the sessions with some humour, so AMAWED is not only Q & A session only. So don't miss today's edition! In case you missed the 4th episode, check here and make sure to stay updated. Some questions may have already been answered in past episodes.
Facilitators of AMAWED
The program is usually anchored by @maryfavour and co-facilitated by @oluwoleolaide, @eurogee @sweetestglo-eu & @honourmaus. We all respond to questions.
When Does The Program Begin?
Usually AMAWED begins at 10.30 am (CET), which is coffee time. However, the time could change slightly, when @maryfavour has some obligations, but feel free to leave your questions anytime you see the post for AMAWED, you'll get answers to them from my co-facilitators.
Four Things You Need To Come With
For now, you only need to bring with you four (4) things
- A comfortable chair
- A bottle of coke, beer, cup of coffee/tea, water, or any drink of your choice (my branded steemit mug is ready to be filled with green tea)
- Pop corn, according to @jaynene in the last 4 editions. Lol! Any snack would do
- Most importantly, your questions, probably written down

The issue of @cheetah will always come up, because of registered users, who want to game the steemit reward pool, knowingly or unknowingly. So, I'll advise everyone, especially newbies to carefully read @anyx witness update posted 2 weeks ago. His update is mainly about @cheetah, @steemcleaners and running of his wtness node.

I see from your reputation (35) and information on steemd.com, created by witness @roadscape, that you are 2 months old (60 days) in steemit, so you are still somewhat of a newbie. Regarding mentorship, just do your best to be here for #AMAWED on Wednesdays, interact with lots of people here, especially those who have been in steemit long enough and have experience. Hopefully, I'll think of a specific time (at least 1 hour every week) soon when any newbie can reach me by voice call, preferably on @redfishpillar discord. Cheers.
I like that there is cheetah and others are working to rid here of plagiarised contents, without them, here would be filled with copied contents from various blogs and websites. They keep here clean and deter those seeking the shortcut to reward. Thanks

My present worry now is the fact that very soon, I presume shortly after #steemfest and steemit in Nigeria (SIN), we'll hit about 1 million users, many of whom would want to seek for short cut reward as you have rightly put it. We need to be proactive and begin to plan for that time on how to deal with abuse. I appreciate your comment and participation. Enjoy.
You are very right. I think we are currently at 350k. When we hit the six figures, at cheetah that is running at 100% at the moment, would be heavily inundated with spammers post. I hope a more intelligent cheetah would come up with more automation than the present version. We steemians can also help, by not upvoting any cheetah upvoted post, to avoid encouraging spammers by upvoting their plagiarised post. The only time I upvote a cheetah upvoted post is when I'm sure the original poster is the author. If not I'll quietly leave to another post.

My sole question for this week lies behind the missing cents during payout after 7 days of posting
I have taken into check various times that the calculations during the payout are not always balanced
Take for instance : a payout of 15.00 SBD will have on the 7th day , 13.00 for author reward and 1.50 for curators reward, what has happened to the missing 0.5 cents like we use to call it.
Can I get a lead @maryfavor @oluwoleolaide @smyle @eurogee @honourmaus and the rest moderators

@olanrewaju, in my 7th month have not noticed this claims of yours. Take whatever comea to you and be happy, whatever you think is happening to those missing cents all lies to the flunctuating price of Steem.
It is a complex question and i believe the White paper answers that technically.
I understand @olarewaju's claim of missing cents after doing some good calculation . Personally, I was ignorant of many things about steemit. There was even a time I claimed that someone was stealing my votes, a day after Hf 19.0. Lol! Thank goodness that @surpassinggoogle, @claybone, you @oluwoleolaide (in a private chat message) and some other good Steemit samaritans came to my aid. We will help newbies go through this phase.

Am happy with what I have and I will be more happier if the missing cents are channeled to the growth of this community.
Steemit has done more than enough and it deserves some rewards in return.

Please, @olanrewaju, I'd rather you take back the phrase missing cents. That claim is not correct at all and I take exception to it. @oluwoleolaide and I @maryfavour have been in steemit for almost 7 months and certainly have a good understanding of how things work here. If we do not correct that impression, it will do us no good. Besides, steemit is an open source blockchain social media platform. There is nothing hidden on it. The blockchain is truth. Go and read the steemit whitepaper & bluepaper. Ask questions, like you are doing now, but don't claim that which is not true and stand by it, even after you've been enlightened about it. I hope you'll pay heed to this advice. It is not about

@olanrewaju I think I know what you mean by missing cent.... Like for instance if a payout is to be 10sbd after curation reward had been paid to curators is now paid in 5.02SBD & 4.40SP...

Then.... The anwser is this “ The SP is usually calculated with the price of steem at the moment of payment, so in a short word THE PAYMENT TO BE PAID IN SP WILL BE CALCULATED WITH CURRENT PRICE OF STEEM AT MOMENT OF PAYOUT......

Hello everyone, @maryfavour has blessed this community with a pillar that supports all redfishes. AMAWED being hosted by @maryfavour is not a mistake from mother-nature, instead, it's a blessing. From my experience in steemit, when you vote and unvote, for any reason including the one you just gave, voting strength will not return instantly to what it was before you cast that vote. This is the reason why I would advise that you do not vote on any content until after some time, ideally after 30 minutes the content was posted. I hope this answers the question.

The Key thing is to read to the comment session before upvoting a post, once you see cheetah do not upvote!
So in case you decided to unvote, you power remains depleted i believe:
It's like taking a salt from a container and add to a food on fire, you mistakenly over-salted it and you decide to per-boil to remove the excess salt. That doesn't add back to the container you took the salt from!
