Looking for Home (An Original Poem)
Looking For Home
Your mind craves silence,
your hands seek warmth,
and your heart seeks acceptance.
The cup of hot chocolate
going cold,
winter sun emerging
from cracks in the window,
hands letting go,
empty days in the room
with so much to do
yet you prefer
lying down and
staring at the wall above,
fizzing out like a bottle
of cold drink lying open,
mornings turning into
mundane routines.
It's all like a pile
of books that
you're trying to balance.
Yet some fall. Some stay.
Your eyes look out.
For a home in an
unknown place with
known people.
Your head hurts.
From thinking too much
yet too less about things
that actually matter.
And yet.
You say you're
fine and you smile.
That's you.
Hiding behind a veil of lies,
and hoping to find your pieces.
Somewhere.
Maybe in the eyes
of the estranged lover,
or in the chats with
your midnight kiss,
or maybe.
Just within the words
of the crumpled pieces
of paper in your diary.
