[Phototalk 1] What camera I should buy for taking photos?
Today, topic is What camera I should buy for taking photos?
After about 5 years playing with photography, the above question is very regular!
My friends, my co-workers,... usually ask me these kinds of question, so today I will try to answer it!
Let's get started with some points below!
1. How much you wanna to invest for a camera?
Nowadays, there are a lot of camera manufacturers (Canon, Nikon, Pentax,Leica,...)with different segments of customers and prices. Depending on your investment, we can choose a DSLR or point and shoot camera.
For DSLR camera, basically, there 3 kinds of sensor dimensions: Crop, Fullframe and Mediumformat.
In general, I can suggest to you guys some options:
+ Under 300$ investment:
I think you should choose a point and shoot camera... these kinds of camera enough for basic photography demand.
+ Upper 300$ investment:
In this situation, you can think about a DLSR cameras, lens,... In my opinion, 2nd hand cameras are still good cause they are so durable! For instance, a Combo Canon 600D + Lens 18-55mm.
For more discussion, you guys can drop your comment in this blog with your own investment, I will consult very soon.
2. What is your purpose to have a camera?
This is very important issue, answering this question will help you choose the right one!
+ You wanna to be a photographer?!
say YES? it is amazing! You should at least a semi-pro camera such as Canon 5D mark II, III, IV, or Nikon D600, D700, D800,... and the professional camera is the best :D ( Canon 1DX, Nikon D4S,...).
For this choice, you have to pay more more money. One more thing, be strong! Because the professional cameras or medium format cameras are so heavy :D But you also look very professional :))
Your RAW photos will have more details because of high resolution sensor, it is very useful when we want to print out in big sizes of photo frame.
+ You just sometimes take photos for your family in traveling or something like this.
For this situation, a point and shoot camera is enough for all of your demands. It is also very light handy, this point is so important with a long traveling. Almost setting is AUTO, so you just Point and Shot like a smartphone.
Considering your purpose before investment will help you save your money, because so many friends sale their camera just few months after buying for sure! :D
Many thanks for reading my blog!

Thanks for your article. What can you tell me about this one?

Nice choice, universal camera for all purpose.
I would prefer the Sony RX100 Mark V, but it's quite expensive, but you get better image quality and a viewfinder. In term of travel camera, Sony is my choice.
Thanks for the tip, @attoan.cmt, but that's way too much for me. I need a camera with a much lower price point, since I always take it abroad when I travel and I would never feel safe with such an expensive camera on my hands.
If so, I agree to your choice. Because I have used several travel cameras before, I would stick to the RX100 for quality. It may cost more, but it's well-worth your money.
Here is a image taken by a Sony RX, but RX1R, not RX100 :D
Thanks. But I really cannot spend more than 400€ on a new camera!
In my opinion, both of your choices are great, they are light and handy, so it is very suitable for traveling. Moreover, the photo quality is also good for our purpose (post to social network or print out not too big size)...
Thanks. What do you think about the 30x Zoom? Is it worth it...?
It is digital zoom, so it is worth in some cases if you wanna take some photo like a tele lens in the DSLR camera, but the quality can not compare with Dslr ones. :D
It's actually a 30x optical zoom lens, not digital. That's why I like it.
Yep I got it, the focal length range from 24-720mm - that's amazing! But in the small sensor (1/2.3") the quality can not compare with DLSR camera. Anw, it is very amazing with a small point and shoot camera!
Let's see a review from youtube! it's amazing!
Of course it can't be as good as a DLSR but on the other hand, this one fits in a pocket. So far, it's my favourite at the moment. I need to find a store that will let me try it, before I buy it.
