ColorChallenge - Can I Eat Any Rose? - Tuesday's Orange

Do I eat every rose I see? It's hard to hold back and not taste every one. There's not much information about which varieties have the best flavors. So I want to try them all. But not this one. Why? Because it was growing in a garden where the people spray pesticides and other chemicals to prevent mildew and other diseases. In my own yard, I don't spray any roses, so I can eat all the ones that taste good.

Never thought of eating roses! In Belgium, I used them to infuse water to use as a facial cleaner. Never seen any roses here in Cambodia! I should really get into the flower eating and research thing! They make your plate look so beautiful!

That's neat that you used the rose petals in water like that. It's really surprising how many edible flowers there are. I'm sure they are too inefficient to harvest and then hard to keep in good shape, for them to be in the grocery stores. I wonder what Cambodian flowers you can eat? I bet there are some pretty ones!

There are so many flowers here! Some are sold on the market... I'll bring some home one day and take a picture of them... really need to do some research because many things are poisonous too in the tropics!

Be careful eating domestic roses some have systemic fungicides

That's one reason I don't trust any rose petals to eat if I don't know the person growing them. I'm glad I don't have to worry about pesticides and fungicides with the roses I grow! I'm not a fan of systemics. They are too indiscriminate about what they can affect.

What a stunning color. Wonderful shot!

Thanks! I wish I know what this variety was, because it was a real highlight in the garden where I saw it.

I saw some that were a slightly darker orange than this last week at a farmer's market. I'm not sure why it had never occurred to me that roses could be truly orange (as opposed to salmon or peach), but now that I know, I'm planning to get some!

I haven't seen many orange roses. It must be a difficult color to get just right. But there are sure a lot of pink roses, lol!

Believe me its a lot more than a itch now lol

It's that time of year -- every gardener needs to get their hands in the soil! :D

Some of my plants arrived today, my nails and hands were covered In compost lol

Yay! That's wonderful! Today will be a good day, then! :D

Planted already lol

I better watch for a post about that! : )

Lovely and bright color!

It really was a colorful rose! The little rosebuds were even more colorful!

Yeah! I look forward to seeing some more pictures of those colorful roses in your garden with much interest! ;)

There are so many pretty roses! It's amazing how many different kinds there are.

I would love to have a garden with many pretty roses like this! I can imagine how happy you are when standing among them! ;)

Some people in my town have a lot more roses than me. And there is a big park that is all roses, lots and lots of roses. This is a good climate for roses, that's for sure!

WOW! That's really great! ;)

Ooh I never thought of eating roses ! and indeed I could eat mine, I don't use anything bad for growing ;-) Have a question (but I suppose the best is to experience it of course..) : does the fragrance of the rose have an influence on its taste ? I have roses that smells like vanilla, and others with a more lemon-like fragrance...
Let me bring you some flowers my way :

Cute little garden creature! In my experience, the fragrance of the rose is important for the taste. The ones that smell good, that I have eaten, have all tasted good, too. Some folks say to take off any white, down the petal attaches to the flower, because it will be bitter. But I haven't found that in the roses I eat. A vanilla rose and a lemon rose both sound really great! I'd like to try those, for sure!

Wow, that looks like a watercolor painting from Georgia O'Keefe. Amazing color and light. Thanks for the nice photo, and info on eating the nice photo...or I should say NOT eating the nice photo (subject).

It really was a pretty rose. It seemed like it glowed. If I was growing this rose, I would try eating it. It's helpful to not spray the roses, lol.
