My Tiny Garden - Crassula Perforata

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

A kind of a rescue plant. About two or three years ago I was looking at the plant table in a supermarket. And I saw few broken bits of that Crassula Perforata succulent. Just a few leaves on each, a bit dried already. But I took it home, planted them and they are all still growing :) That is how tough succulents are!

This one is blooming for me regularly now. It is the biggest one of the tree I have. I keep in inside on the east facing windowsill. Others I keep on the balcony in much harsher conditions. They also bloom, but are smaller. But because of the winds and sun the get the edges a lot darker, almost purple. Gorgeous things!

I can't say I love the flowers. Very small (about 2 mm across) in whitish-greenish. They do look nice from a distance in those clusters. But... they smell like pee!. Not too intensive thankfully.

But I really do like the plant itself and the thick, velvety leaves with darker edges. So pretty!
And as most succulents it doesn't need almost any care. I forget to water it most of the time... but she seems to like it. Sometimes the leaves get a little shriveled... then it is definitely time to water. It simply tells me when it is thirsty. Wonderfoul plant :)

Wonderful feeling bring a plant back to life! :) lovely post

It is! I have a few like that saved from a supermarket floor. And they are doing great :)

It’s so pretty, too bad it has a terrible smell!

I can live with it. It not too strong. You actually have to put your nose really close to smell it. So it's fine :)
