Where in the World?

Don’t get me wrong. I love the United States and all there is to offer here. That goes without saying. I have gone from Coast to coast and in between, making sure our kids appreciated what we have here before casting them upon the world. But speaking of travel (which I was in my head) Europe still remains my go-to destination; I can go back and back and back again. Is it because of the familiariarity? There are so many alleys that haven’t been revealed by me, so much to see, to do, to discover. The vast histories, The art museums, hiking in the Alps, ancient graveyards in Poland, Russia, Germany and buildings…. Oh, my! The architecture is beyond any Fodor’s illustration. My eyes have been on a journey of a lifetime. In saying that, the first person to raise their hand with an offer of meeting in Myanmar, consider me there!

Where is/was your favorite place to visit? Make me want to go there with your words of wonder!!

The Farewell (from The Prophet)

We wanderers, ever seeking the lonelier way,
begin no day where we have ended
another day; and no sunrise finds us where
sunset left us.

Even while the earth sleeps we travel.
We are the seeds of the tenacious plant,
and it is in our ripeness and our fullness of
heart that we are given to the wind and are
scattered.

Khalil Gibran (1883-1931)

Because there should always be a flower to color my world

Sometimes hitting the pause button in life gives me just enough time to catch up, breathe a bit and enjoy the beauty that surrounds me, hear the laughter in the background and feel the sun on my face. I can even hear my own heart beating a sound of joy.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again, I am encouraged by you, for the time you take to visit, comment or even upvote. For all of these reasons, I am eternally grateful. Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, how wonderful it really is. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

Hello,
I can understand your feelings, we all know most Americans have their roots in Europe, the history and the culture is thousands years old and it's normal people get attracted to their own history.
Have a beautiful Sunday

It's true!! My roots are in Germany and France and I have spent countless hours perusing those places, often on the roads less traveled to ingest the real flavor of my journey.

I would venture to guess that human nature is to want what you don't have or at least wish upon a star for it. :) Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a most wonderful Sunday!

You can't vote for a part of the post. Where are you from and what have you done with the old guy?? He knows all the rules and regulations and the do's and don't and whatever.

Well, thank you for the nice words and I hope you have a great night!

!tip

Pfft I told you a year ago the Old Guy is not exactly good with rulez, do's and dont's and such stuff LOL!

Oh its been a stellar day, I cant imagine the night not being every bit as good!

@old-guy-photos

I'm sure that your night was amazing, what is not to love when you are surrounded by your loving family?

Oh, the rules are not for you! You break them anyway. :)

Ha! I always find more trouble fun when I ditch the kiddos! Lol

I'm telling the chilluns!

Myamar is on my list of places to visit too @dswigle but it's quite complicated to arrange, if I remember rightly. A friend of mine went a couple of years ago. 😁

My friend went and at the time, it was impossible for me to leave home! Boo-hiss!!!!! But, good things come to those that wait, so I think I will go the way that they did, and there was no big problems nor disappointments!

It is one of the places that I have wanted to go for a long time and I have no idea why it has taken me so long do this!!!

I hope we both get there!

!tip

So you have a specific date planned? 😊

Not a certain date, but, probably by the end of summer... or thereabouts. Just needing to get a leave of absence in with dates. I figure... how about two years or more? :)

Is there a better time of year to go, weather-wise, do you know? Or are you just fitting it in when you can get leave? 😊

Thanks for the tip by the way! 😍

Because the United States has all four seasons at one time in various parts of the country, it doesn't really matter when I leave oh, I was just go to the part of the country that has the nicest weather. How's that for being flexible?

What? Eh? I'm totally confused now. I meant the weather ii Myanmar!!!! ''cl

Omg! Lol That will come after I do the National Parks in the US.

And yes!! Weather is a factor! Asia is not kind in summer!

Germany has been my favorite place to visit. Dachau concentration camp is a place I will never forget. It was sad listening to the tour guide walk us through explaining how that city went from an art hub to a place that will be forever known for what happened in that camp. Definitely an experience I will never forget.

Posted using Partiko Android

I got physically ill after being at Dachau for the day. It was such an emotional experience for me. My Father's people came over from Germany. Life was never the same after that, much like 9/11 for us, but with abuse beforehand and more...

I am glad you got to go, there are so many people who believe it never happened and I am wondering what rock they were hatched under. It is an experience that everyone should see. So that nothing like that ever. ever happens again.

We live in a cruel world, my friend. dictatorship, communism, and adverse living conditions, even in modern day time. What is wrong with us as human beings? And I truly didn't mean to make this answer so depressing.

We need a little light in the world, lit by a little glow of love. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a most wonderful night!

!tip

hugs to share a little more love in the world.

Lately I've been enjoying visiting the Eastern European countries a lot. Prague, Moscow and Krakow are amazing cities.

I spent years worth of time in Prague and Krakow, although all of my friends thought I was crazy for not upping that to Warsaw.

Moscow, not so much although I hope to remedy that!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words. Very kind of you and much appreciated! May you have a most wonderful Sunday!

!tip

What did they see in Warsaw? From what I've heard, it's a much more industrial and boring city.

I personally didn't care for Warsaw and have no idea why it was more popular with the people I know. I was a huge Krakow fan and made my first visit there in 1990 with my parents. It was an amazing city, especially seeing it from when the wall fell, to the rise up to where it is now.

What about the night life? I think Krakow was one of the liveliest cities I've ever been to. Those guys, I mean, those girls are crazy. I haven't seen many guys in the pubs and bars. They were probably home doing the laundry while their girlfriends went out. 😂

Hahahaha!! OMG! That is funny!

I think Krakow is the place. I loved it so much better! Crazy girls, eh? :)

Where I live it's the opposite. Bars are full of guys... And there's 30 guys for every woman. 😂

Damn, why can't I edit comments on eSteem? Freaking bugs.

Thanks a lot for your support.

My pleasure. I had so much trouble with eSteem, I stopped using it. I assumed it was just my phone.

I'm using it until the end of the month, as a trial run. Most likely, I'll return to Busy.

Ahh. I just use busy. It makes it easier. :)

Myanmar is a very good choice. But if you are in the area, Laos is also worth a visit especially the old capital: Luang Prabang. Both these countries are like what Thailand used to be like some forty years ago!

Thailand’s big cities are highly modernised so most people will to small islands in the south.

Anywhere that is not the same place as I slept the night before.

Truly. Although that is a cool thought, I am thinking there are some places that I would like to stay behind and do a little more exploring!

You have never found a place like that?

!tip

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.

Sure I have, but the excitement you get from closing your eyes in unknown environment is priceless.

Well, you got me there! That is totally true!

Such a beautiful poem Denise! Wow, you have certainly traveled alot, how exciting. We have traveled a bit but nothing like you. Quite a bit of travel all over the USA and a bit out of the country. We love our Travel Van, and love to camp by the oceans and gulfs. Perhaps when we sell that we will travel abroad more. What a blessing.

I had a travel trailer and loved cruising the country!! It was a wonderful time and I am getting ready to do it again. First I need to quit work. I can't get months off at a time. But, the payback is tenfold with the experience.

Thank you for your lovely words and I am so very grateful for people such as yourself, taking the time to stop by and say hello! Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!
