Travel with me: Sailing Greece, Day #8 - Corinth Canal
After having a quick coffee the next morning we set sail a little bit earlier than usual as we had to pass Corinth Canal for a shortcut. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for most modern ships but saves a lot of time for yachts and small boats.
We have arrived to the entrance on the mid day and had to drift for an hour or so neat the entrance to the canal as traffic there is moving both ways but only one direction at a time.
Ir was an interesting experience as it is quite narrow and sides of the canal go quite high.
There is probably some fish in the canal that we did not catch earlier, but this guy must be walking on water to get at this fishing spot :)
It took about 30 minutes to get to the other side and we went to pay the passage fee witch i do not remember how much it was exactly.
After making acquaintances with a big and scary but very friendly dog we moved on to reach Saronic islands where we would stop for another night.
After getting ashore we started exploring this small pearl and got really hungry.
One moment we finally thought that we got lucky, but when we approached closer we were late... a month or two :)
So we just rather went to a local pub to have a beer and a meal. Or it was a meal and a beer i do not remember :)
After which we got back to our yacht for another round or two and put ourselves to rest.

Cool timelapse- the clouds rolling over the mountain are nice.
Thought would look nice rolling them in the background. Glad you liked it :)
Damn! You we're sailing for that long? I haven't tried sailing. But it's on my bucket list. :-)
Nice travel photos. I like the sides of canal photo. It looks like it's going to collapse. :-)
It looked like it's over :) You can even develop claustrophobia sailing that long and sailing in such canals :) You definitely should do it and i am sure that one day you will.
Hopefully yeah, one day I might. :-)
Do you also fish when you go sailing? I haven't tried fishing either.
we have tried on more than a few occasions, sometimes with a catch but most of the time without :)
Big baller! I bet you had so much fun! You're lucky man! Salute! :-)
Despite 0 catch we really did a lot of fun. Was saving up for that trip for quite a bit actually :) and did not regret is at single day : )
I will copy you someday. Gotta work hard and play harder! :-)
Exactly, maybe we even end up on the same boat, who knows!
i'm enjoying to read your memories from this adventure and to look on visuals. this image with the very high sides of the channel is such awesome ! love the symmetry
Glad you have enjoyed it Victor :)
