If we think about life in this regard.

Take a tree...it's standing tall in bloom is proof of work as the color in the tree proves that the root systems are working effectively for the tree.

Take our individual skills and abilities. Great skill and ability is developped through work. It is a practice and self study. Its a result of putting in the work that garners the results as the fruits of our best harvest.

There's a certain amount of satisfaction in being creatively resourceful with our responsibility.
Bitcoin is an interesting example of this.
Bitcoin sucks up excessive energy sources creating itself as the most powerful super computer. It is positioning itself to take responsibility for the abusive energy practices around the world by actually creating more effective and efficient energy systems.

Our lives...and the process journey through Life is much the same.
We get what we give.
It's the starting point of living to give. To create solutions as various forms of innovations here that can be utilized to better support the best life.

Bitcoin was born out of recognition and regard for the current problems within the money systems. Bitcoin wanted to provide better accomodations...an alternative to the existing banking industry. Wanting to put the power in the hands of people world wide to work together to creatively collaborate our best open source collaborations.

We are at the beginning of the new sharing economy.

In our individual lives, its a matter of decision. What we decide to create. Making decisions to participate, communicate, engage and explore. The learning potential is massive as there,s so much to this existence...our physical body here.

The body is the hardware and the mind is the software. And we the Being are the player here.

Each one a part of the total operating system here as each connected through the hardware and the software here. So many players make up our world here.

Proof of work is what will lead us to actualizing "proof of life" here.
It's in doing the work that we can become our own salvation.
