Steemit Open Mic Week #59 - Mario Brothers Theme Song (Flute Cover)
I’m a little under the weather right now and my voice is pretty sore and raspy. I would hate to miss a week of open mic though, and so I decided to bust out my flute! It was pretty fun to refamiliarize myself with the instrument, as it has been several years since I have taken it out of its case. In fact, I can count on one hand the amount of times I have played it in the last decade! It’s funny how some instruments seem easier to use in our adult lives, where others don’t seem to make it out of the high school band room.
I used to be pretty decent, and it makes me want to practice more often and rebuild my skill set! Back in high school, I won a few state competitions. That was only a few years ago. 😜
Please forgive some of the errors and timing issues in this recording as I get back on the horse with playing the flute. I hope you enjoy my cover of the Mario Brothers theme song!
Now you're going to have to start taking requests. Zelda comes to mind, or busting out the harp to play some Final Fantasy! :)

One minor detail with Final Fantasy... I don’t play the harp. 🤷♀️
I play the harp :) Now I just need to order one to play it live more often.

@verbal-d that’s so cool! It’s pretty rare to meet someone who plays the harp. Sounds like maybe you don’t have one at home right now though? Not that I’m encouraging you to go and spend tons of money on a harp, but I think if you had one around it might be a good quality of life upgrade!
Then you could learn the Final Fantasy song and play it for us. 😉
Haha yeah it is a rarity, but like David in the bible, I loved the fact that he played to God the harp, and it inspired me to learn it by myself, I used to practice on a medium size one, half my height about 3 feet long, right now I have to replace my laptop and now phone, since last week it died on me, but I would love to get a high quality harp after checking off my list of other audio equipment I need. For now I just produce beats and instrumentals using the Harp Sound Patch in the music software programs. Maybe I can find an instrumental to share with you to show you a bit of my style of how I use the Harp. Because how I play it live, I also translate it through my producing as well and even more so.
Final Fantasy has some epic melodies indeed!
You get that sounds out of the flute, while not operating it for the last decade more than a few time? WOW. I probably get nothing out of it, other than the sound of my own breath :) But then again, I never played a flute in my whole life :)
Thank you! I was pleasantly surprised as well. I was worried that she may have needed to go into the shop for some work, but it was like I picked up where I left off!
Now that I’ve taken her back out, I don’t want to put the thing down! I’ve been playing so much in the last 24 hours, it’s crazy. I’ll need to find a new spot to practice though, before I start getting complaints from the neighbors! 😜
Invite your neighbours for a round of music maybe?

I see. I do too! Specially because i do appreciate the fact that there’s this huge community of people doing good all around. Being kind and helping out others.
So I decided that I would try and do the same. It’s the least i can do. I want to contribute to all the kindness. I want it to last forever. Because this is so different from the vibes you get in other social media.

Thanks @raci! I had a lot of fun playing this as a kid too. I had to play at the neighbors house, because my parents didn’t want to playing video games, but I didn’t keep us from sneaking it in! 😝
:D that's so sweet! I was so fortunate to have a big sister who had the original NES and I was allowed to play Super Mario Bros a bit every day. But my cousin already had the better SNES so I sneaked in at his place more often to play Super Mario World ;)

This was awesome! You know this is gonna make all of the 80s/90s kids feel all warm and nostalgic, haha ;) I played flute for 7 or 8 years in school and this makes me want to pick one up again :) This is the first entry I’ve seen from you so I’ll be following you now for more!
You should totally grab your flute and play something again! You might be surprised at how your fingers just start playing and remembering notes. I couldn’t believe how much came back after a couple hours of practice. I might need to start practicing in my car though so my neighbors don’t hate me. 😜
