India to have plastic currency note soon

Hello Everyone,
Government of India has communicated to the parliment that it has taken a decision to print plastic currency note and that the process of procurement of raw material for this has already began.
It has been decided that banknotes based on plastic or polymer substrate will be printed. The process will be initiated in phases in different states.
Rs 10 denomination will be the first to see a replacement with plastic currency note.

we have for quite a number years already for local currency.

Yes you are right I am aware there are quite a few countries which already have implemented it much before. But in the Indian context this will be the first time.
