ANCIENT MAGIC PLANTS #7
Here are my beloved plants.
These I will plant them this year!
Hyssop officinale
(Lamiaceae)
Shrub with blue flowers.
Mediterranean plant that is also found in North Africa and Asia.
Formerly and especially in the Middle Ages, it was cultivated to treat gastric disorders.
The upper parts (young flowers and tender stems) are harvested and dried.
The plants regenerate quickly, allowing two to three harvests a year.
In medicine, it is used to treat the breathing apparatus, for coughing
whooping cough and bronchitis.
In infusion, 2 teaspoons in a quarter of a liter of water,
recommended in cases of inflammation of the urinary tract.
Hyssop, as sage has a moderating effect on perspiration.
It is not recommended to take in high doses,
it causes painful cramp.
It is also used to decorate salads.
I'm going to plant in the spring,
the seedlings are in action ...
Green anise
(Ombelliferae)
Mediterranean annual plant (again !!!)
Its small white flowers are grouped in umbels.
It is one of the oldest medicinal plants in the world!
It is mentioned in the papyrus Eber, medical treat of 1500 BC. JC.
It was considered that she had the power to rejuvenate!
Charlemagne, a man passionate about aromatic plants, ordered his use.
Anise was very expensive at that time.
It serves a lot in sweet cooking because it is 13 times sweeter than sugar!
It is used as a carminative tisane for children.
It also promotes the rise of milk for women who have difficulty with their babies.
It is used for the composition of alcohol such as pastis, ricard to consume with moderation,
but also the famous candies "Anis de Flavigny".
Last summer I was given seeds that I made in bread,
it's excellent.
I will sow this year, I will follow the evolution ...
Cinnamon
(Lauraceae)
Spice made from cinnamon bark.
She served in ancient Egypt in their embalming ritual.
It is the oldest written spice in the Egyptian papyrus.
I speak to you today because I have just learned from my friends
from my passionate cactus group, which she also served to promote
the cuttings of certain plants, and in particular to prevent damping-off
which happens because of a mushroom and a lot of humidity.
Like what even when working for many years in gardening,
we learn every day !!!!
