1800km From Home... The Long Road To Freedom! My Story pt. II, Puglia, Italy.steemCreated with Sketch.

What made me leave everything behind and start travelling? My story pt. II

Check out part I of the story "Why I Became So Attracted To The Modern Nomad Lifestyle?" to see how I got up to this point in time!

Chapter III: In between the old reality and the new me

Before I got to Italy I had to find somebody to rent my apartment so I could travel without plans of returning any time soon... This took me a lot longer than I was expecting.. six and a half months to be more specific! This was a very big challenge on its own..

When I came back from Tamera, Portugal I felt like a new man!
This journey made me realize so much about myself and my life, I felt like I was on top of the world!
It really felt like I had lifted myself in to a higher vibration..
Everything I had been through and the steps I took to evolve out of my struggles, empowered me so much!
Words don't even come close to describe the feelings I had!

But after all this, here I was again.. back into the old reality I grew up in..
After a month or two I could almost feel it slowly bringing me down again, but the change that happened in me was here to stay! I wasn't going to give up!
I coped with it by maintaining a good meditation practice every day and trying to avoid too much contact with people I knew who don't resonate with these kind of ideas and worldviews I had. It is nobody's fault, everybody's life is different and a lot of people aren't ready for thinking outside of the box. As long as everybody is happy that's what truly matters.
I just wasn't ready to be "the new" me in my "old reality" yet.

I am still working on this, but I have gotten a lot better at it, day by day, step by step. I like to see my life as one big journey evolving little by little from cradle to the grave. Everyday there are lessons to be learned. I can see the beauty of it now! I call it The University of Mother Earth..

Chapter IV: The adventure before "The Adventure"

So finally six and a half months later D-day was here again.. I was proud that I managed to go through the difficulties that my old reality had presented to me and accepted them as part of my journey!
I had booked a bus to Puglia, Italy. It is a region in the south of Italy. I was heading to the north part of Puglia first, to the Gargano region to visit a project of a girl I had met in Tamera. She had a big piece of land where she had started a project together with friends six years ago.
I thinks her intension is to build something like Tamera, because she was in love with the project and strongly believed in the ideals they had. Building a new society/culture based up on trust and in cooperation with nature. A place for healing your inner self..

At that time before arriving I still didn't knew what to expect. All I knew was she was into meditation and yoga and try to live a simple life off-grid, living together with nature. This resonated with me and I felt a strong attraction to discovering more about their lives so I told her I would be visiting and helping them out for a month, which eventually became two!
I took the bus because I wanted an adventure before "the adventure". Driving through all the countries and possibly meeting new people along the way.

After being on the bus for 12 hours we stopped in Bologna if I remember correctly, to change to another bus and drive deeper into the south..
When I was sitting on the new bus waiting to leave suddenly a guy from Greece came and sit next to me. We started talking.. It didn't take long before we noticed we had so much in common, we ended up talking like five hours strait! He was heading to Crete an planned to stay for three months visiting his family.
We talked so much that the time completely slipped away from my attention, and suddenly we arrived at his stop. He had to get off to take the boat to Greece. We said goodbye, we still keep in touch to this day.
I hope we meet again someday amigo..

This fact made me realize I was on the right track.. every time when I make the right decisions in life, these weird coincidences happen a lot more than usual.. I believe these are the confirmations that I am doing the right thing.

This was the whole reason I wanted to take the bus in the first place, because I knew there was a big possibility events like this would happen along the way. But now I was alone again and still a long way to go..
Eventually I had to sleep somewhere in a Bed & Breakfast because I didn't do my homework enough.. I didn't get off at the right bus stop! Rookie mistakes..haha..
At least the hardest part of the journey was over, I just managed to survive a 30 hour bus drive...

The next day I finally arrived at my new home for the next two upcoming months...

I can totally relate to your post travel dilemma. It's hard to go back, where everything kinda sucks and nothing really changed. Sometimes not even yourself that much. At least that's what the voices in your head are trying to persuade of.

What a great journey you went / are still going through now. Although I also want to explore the mysteries of the countryside I somehow always end up in bigger cities. Maybe that's part of my universal plan.

Happy to be connected with you :)

Thanks brother me too happy to know you and follow your travrlling journey :) and I love big cities too I love the change and contrast between cities and countryside but my biggest love is mother nature so I always go back to the roots :) and about the voices I completely agree they are tricky sometimes..haha.. No mather were we go too, if it's our heart's desire we are following than everything will be okay!

Nog veel reisplezier , reiziger! Is telkens mooi om te lezen van waar je komt en waar je naartoe gaat!

Muchos gracias senoira! ;)

De nada, señor ;)
