Good news for our vegan friends.. if you're eating beans on a regular basis, your "engine" will be very happy with you...
I was referring to your heart by the way..:)
Studies show us that consuming legumes on a regular basis is very good for our heart-health. Consuming legumes high in bean protein and water soluble fiber, may be associated with a reduced risk of coronary heart disease(CHD).
Legume consumption 4 times a week or more compared to less than once a week was associated with a 22% lower risk of CHD and 11% cardiovascular disease (CVD).

We can make wonderful meals with these beautiful gifts of nature, and if you're worried about "the musical fart" of beans... ow excuse me, I meant "the musical part" of beans... I think I have found the solution to this "farting problem".
Instead of soaking overnight you should try to do a 48 hour soak. Change the water every 8-10 hours and let them soak for a total of 48 hours.
You will be surprised how easy to digest they are now, no more farting...haha..
Although every once and awhile a good old fart can be pretty funny...

That said, you should definitely do a good soak time because of the phytic acid present in beans.
They consider this as an "anti-nutrient" because it interferes with absorption of minerals but phytic acid also has its good qualities like for example it interacts with your gut bacteria and releases inositol, this helps your liver process fats and plays a role in muscle function.
So I believe the trick is to do a good soak to balance out the phytic acid so it doesn't rob you of minerals and still gives you the benefits.
Indigenous people also used long soaking periods or fermenting and sprouting techniques to prepare beans..
Changing the water regularly helps getting rid of the phytic acid that has leached into the water. Always use fresh water to cook the beans after discarding the soaking water! Source of info
...And now it's time for a...

Delicious bean stew recipe...

This bean stew is meant as a main course without grains. So use enough beans in this recipe. The choice is completely up to you of course, if you prefer to eat rice or pasta with this recipe, no problem you can prepare them and serve together!

Ingredients: (serves 2 persons)

  • Tomato Sauce ( a tin of canned tomatoes or 1/2 kilo fresh tomatoes)
  • 1 Cup of Pinto Beans or Black beans (soaked and cooked or 2 tins of canned beans)
  • Vegetable mix of 1 small Zucchini, 1 Eggplant, 1 Carrot and 1 Onion (diced in small cubes)
  • Garlic Clove (crushed and finely cut)
  • Fresh Basil & Parsley (a handful)
  • Pepper & Salt
  • Olive Oil

Preparation:

  • After soaking and cooking the beans you can start with cutting the vegetables. Now choose your favorite method of cooking (frying veggies in oil, cooking in water or steaming them).
First I chose to fry the onion for 5 minutes on a medium high heat in a large cooking pot and then add the rest of the vegetables with a glass of water to steam them, now close the lid and let it steam at medium high heat for another 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes you can add the tomato sauce to the vegetables plus half of the garlic. Add pepper & salt to taste. Now let it simmer at low heat for another 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes add the beans with the basil and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Now remove the pot from the cooking stove and mix in the rest of the garlic and serve in a deep plate with a drizzle of olive oil and sprinkled parsley on top.

Now your ready to enjoy a big bowl of beans without farting your ass off...
Buon Appetito!

Thanks a lot :D I hope this reaches a lot of people..haha

actually I just thought of something! If we stopped everyone from farting we may be able to reduce green house gases and stop global warming.

We could save the planet, one less fart at a time :) LOL

Haha.. that definitely could help! We could start an anti-fart campagne..lol..

I must have a weird sense of humor because I actually think that's funny...
