A natuaral way to feminize cannabis seeds for your next grow.

About an hour ago @rebeccaryan posted about a auto flowering strain called Apollo 13. Although I am not familiar with this particular strain I do have a good few years of growing experience under my belt. rebeccaryan has raised a great topic and shared a beautiful pic of a young plant and is looking for opinions to determine male or female. As we discussed male plants can be a real pain in the ass! So I figured I would share a technique I have used successfully over the years to naturally and 100% organically feminize my own seeds with roughly a 95% success rate :-)
Using banana peels to feminize your seeds....
How does this work?
Ethylene, a naturally occurring gas is given off by the ripening banana peels and will feminize your seeds.

better success rate
Little to no hermies
Do It Yourself!
Peel 2 bananas and separate the strips, then wrap each skin in 'one' layer of tissue & lay them inside a carrier bag or air tight container. Lay one piece of tissue paper over the top of all the skins. place the seeds on top & seal the bag & leave it in a warm place (room temp is fine).
Please note important! Don't forget to open the bag once daily for about 20 minutes to release excess moisture, much the same as when your curing your buds. If you forget your seeds will germinate prematurely in the bag. A good tip is to include a silica pack to help absorb excessive moisture, works great!
Also I would recommend changing the skins for fresh ones every three days or so as they will turn brown & rotten and start to decompose going all mushy or moldy. You leave the seeds for about two weeks so you'll need to change the skins 5 or 6 times, roughly.
And that's it, a simple 100% organic solution to ensure female plants.

Does it matter how old the seeds are that you want to feminize?
(The seeds from my first grow are about 2 months old now.)
Not at all, I have honestly feminized and germinated seeds that are around ten years old. If they are kept in a dry and cool place seeds can stay good for ages. Many people may argue this point and it is just from my experience. Obviously fresh seeds do have a much higher and faster germination rate, so at two months old you should have no problem at all.
So, if I am interpreting this correctly, 95% of the seeds will become female if they are exposed to the ethylene gas that the banana peels give off. Is that correct?
Yes that is correct :-)
Also a good way to choose good seeds is to look at coloration, dark seeds on there own or with distinct dark patterns are are usually good seeds. If you want to physically test a seed give it a good squeeze between your thumb and index finger, you will find a poor seed will collapse and a good seed will withstand the pressure.
How I normally germinate is by first soaking the seed in clean water by filling a small container and just dropping them in until they split and show the root. Normally bad seeds will float and good seeds will sink within 24hrs after swelling.
Cucumber or melon skins would do too, or even an empty gass spray bottle, it is because of the ethyleen. Nearly all info that i have is in Dutch, so i went to look for a site where it was chemical explained, this one might be a help for you both to :

Previously I pushed to drive the page but lost traction. possibly the community has now grow enough to create enough traffic and content.
