Wolf Spider With Her Multitude of Babies

Yesterday I came across a female Wolf spider with her multitude of spiderlings on her back. Wolf spiders (family Lycosidae) are ground dwelling spiders. The females carry their egg sac around with them and when the spiderlings hatch, they crawl up onto her abdomen. This is only a small wolf spider with a body length of around 8mm. That should give you an idea of just how small those babies are. I wish the quality of the photos was better but unfortunately that's all I got before she crawled away.

The photos below were taken with a Canon 7D and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens.
