A Small But Beautiful Icheumon Wasp.
This is a rather small Ichneuman wasp (family Ichneumonidae). I'd estimate that it is about 10mm in length. It's one of the many insects that have visited my moth light recently. Ichneumons wasps are parasitoids. Their eggs are usually laid on caterpillars. I've included a full sized version of this photo.

That is awesome! Can they sting?
Ichneumon wasps cannot sting you. Some females have what looks like a long stinger but is only used for egg laying.
