Daryl Davis Does an AMA - The Black Man Who is Dismantling the KKK With Dialogue
Not too long ago, the news media began paying attention to musician Daryl Davis. Not because of his impressive history of playing with Chuck Berry and other famous musicians for 30 years, but for something else. It just so happened that Daryl had been talking with avowed white supremacists - and they've been recanting their racism.
Daryl estimates that more than 50 people have left the Klan directly because of his willingness to dialogue, and hundreds more have left due to the ripple effects.
Yesterday, Daryl opened up to the Reddit community and invited questions as part of their "Ask Me Anything" format. You can read the full thread here.

That's my perspective. Slate estimates 3-5 thousand KKK. This guy singlehandedly converted 50-60. At worst that's 1% of all KKK in existence. That's extraordinary. If just 100 people replicate his success, we'd see the number go to zero. I'm very optimistic that we will soon see the end of this kind of racism.
maybe he can talk muslims out of islam
Many have done so. I went to a religious college where we hosted Christian missionaries. They had many stories of converting Muslims using the same tactics as Daryl.
Jesus was a master philosopher and he understood how to convert. His time in the limelight lasted all of three years, but his religion is the largest in the world a whole 2000 years later. That's no accident. Love, compassion, understand, dialogue is still relevant and effective.
Muslims at jihad are a different matter, but as of this moment dialogue and empathy is the way to go.
