As I type the wind is still blowing pretty extremely as it has for hours. At this point it's knocked everything light enough to fly off the tables and surfaces. It seems like a storm is rolling in and our dogs have taken notice. Tequila, formerly a street dog, gets particularly anxious during these times and is currently taking advantage cuddling in bed with John right now.

In some ways the rain is refreshing. It wakes up the jungle which is beautiful and it provides free food in the form of greens for my birds. On the other hand it makes boulders and the hillside in general difficult to navigate and putting it simply we aren't ready for it. There's a lot to be done from sealing the concrete roof from leaks to better securing the solar setup.

I've been preparing in small ways with my farm by dosing my birds daily with essential oil in their water, a blend that I've used to help bring sick chickens back and some garlic extract to help keep them healthy. With the rain comes sickness especially in chickens and because we aren't interested in using antibiotics preventative care is the best option.
