Taking A Break
The whale convulsions have convinced me
it's not worth my time to risk posting original content.
For the time being, I will read others' posts, upvote (not that it's worth much), comment, etc., but no more original posts.
My apologies to those following the AskAuntDeb series and Adventures in Pet Sitting. I hope to resume soon.
The Steemit Storyteller's Collective, including the #steemitstoryslam, will also be put on hold. Maybe permanently as so little interest has been shown. We'll see.
I may put together a few cooking posts, if I get bored, for publication later.
Agree completely - there's simply no point in publishing original content while this bullshit's going on.
Thank you. I can be patient when I see a desired outcome in the end. I don't see that in this situation.
So, I'll bide my time til they get their shit together... or don't. Then, I'll decide if it's worth hanging around.

I wrote a community encouragement post today, got 5 or more flags, killed the rep and payout, and I had a lot of time and thought into it but who cares, about encouraging content right that is then worth $1?
It was a failed experiment and these flags, with no start or end date, or announcement, are driving good people off here daily.

I caught that earlier & upvoted it. The flags were already in place by then. That was what prompted this post.
No more 'community building' unless the 'community' consists of more than a whale circle jerk. Am sick of the attention whores who masquerade as 'helpful'. 'Bout as helpful as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Morons.
Agreed. As per what I sent you on twitter today. That's what should be done ---- everyone use the same graphic, call for everyone to not post or comment for one full week, give a day and time it ends, see how things collapse with no users, it is just like running a protest.
Which I have kinda become an expert at and I don't say stuff like that about myself very often.

Yup and I think it made a few folks pay attention to what was going on. That's success.
I don't even care if folks ARE here for money... my whole beef was the way they were treating the people they were hurting. Pissed me right off and am still not over it. Am making my displeasure heard elsewhere & only running the story contest for now.

This is about the third go-round like this I've seen since I came onboard. I honestly do not have the stamina to swim upstream against this stuff. I appreciate your support and kind words. They do help.

Mandatory fairness according to whale whims is supremely unfair. I posted similar sentiments in a less civil manner.
Agreed. There are no clear rules, flagging is indeed being applied on a whim. I've seen lots of theories, accusations, defensiveness, and all manner of 'reasons', but no solid basis for throwing the community into an uproar - AGAIN.
I'm opting out this round.
I have a car that needs fixing again. I don't know whether I'll be back on Steemit tomorrow or not. This "experiment" will prove nothing beyond the frustration content creators feel when their audience is countermanded by self-righteous whales who think they know better than anyone else.
In fact, I think I will re-post this comment in my blog and call it a day.
And I have other projects that could use my attention as well. Which, btw, would probably make interesting and informative reading. Funny that...

So sorry this whole flag wars bullshit has destroyed what I loved about Steemit. If everyone stops posting content then the whole experiment fails.
It is destroying the site. I can't do anything about those who are throwing their weight around except duck. If it ultimately fails, then we'll know who to credit and this experiment will have it's conclusion.
Oh, and I don't appreciate being the rope in a tug of war.
