Steem App - Dev Week 7

Join me on my journey to bring Steem/it to the masses.

More builds and a lot of fine tuning this week. I also ask some questions this week looking for general feedback. I am now planning some of the more practical aspects of the app; Incentives for use, use of main account etc ...

How will this app work in practice?

I begun work on this project shortly after Steemfest 2, last November and it has taken till now to get a working app that is almost there. There is still fine tuning and testing to go before release but its shaping up and looking good. I think we are at a stage now where most of the major hurdles are over.

There are a few more weeks of development to go but the app is looking great and I think I will be in a position to show it to people at the London Cryptocurrency Show next week. (and trying it out in London)

Testing

I was planning on getting more user testing done from around the world before the beta release (11 weeks of dev time seemed like loads) but I am learning about the lifecycle of a project like this as I go.

Structure of the App

Map View and Posting Template

The initial development has been focusing on integrating Google APIs and the Steem APIs. These were the hurdles for a project like this. This is an important part of the UX that will deliver an enhanced experience for users. A lot of design has gone into these individual screens to make sure the functionality is intuitive.

Browsing

The remaining browsing screens will need less work and are really the icing on the cake. Their design is already there and and I am not expecting the functionality here to cause any delays.

Beta

Even though the initial release of the App will be a beta version it will be substantial and will be ready to use on Android devices from day 1.
I am confident it will deliver on my vision to allow you to browse the Steem Blockchain for restaurant reviews visually and help you effortlessly add high quality restaurant reviews on the go.

• Where should images for apps like this be stored. Storing on an app account server adds a lot of responsibility on the app company. Is this an issue. Use IPFS instead or is it ok for links to break after a period of time?
• Are you working on an App for Steem and if so what lessons have you learned along the way that may benefit this project?
