I Need To See You (A Poem by Ren)

I Need To See You
As a curator, a builder, a moderator and an agent of change.
I need to see you.
Not the excuses or the "you" in the shadows behind the mask you wear.

Not the, "putting others first "always...
That you comment on.
Yet you continue to say you do this and you do that.
I need to see you.

I need to feel the air you breathe
I need to experience the raw talent of your creation
That’s making it happen in the now
What is it on the real that you actually do?

I don’t need you to point out what others did or they're ‘just released’
Or what happened to him and her umpteem years ago

I need you to rise up and be not afraid
To step into the spotlight
And quit fearing whether you will get it wrong or right

And I need you to remember
That the best of us that can be likened to the rest of us
Have fallen down, got said no to and have been rejected
More times that they could care to remember.

But these are the great ones that took the “no’s” and rejections
Transmuted them into fuel
And ate it all like a Scooby snack
And then they bounced back.
Shook the dust off their feet
And They kept stepping until they stepped into
The day where they arrived.

They have paid their dues, made many mistakes
And it's understood that they may make bad choices in years to come
But they keep their head up and they keep showing up
To make it do what it do
And so should you.

By the way, what is it again that you really do?
Where is your brand, what should I remember you for
If you are in music don’t you want to if not walk in the ranks
At least walk in the footsteps of the great ones?

It is not serving you to sing background for the rest of your life
When you were born to be in the spotlight.

And I am writing to you because from way over here
I See Your Greatness.

And I see that you have been absent from
Hitting your mark, but just because you are late don’t mean its over.
Start today, Catch an epiphany and lay out your blueprint
Start with what you got in your arsenal
With a knowing that everything else you need will come.

As you open one door and then two
The universe will show you what else to do
And you will be sent the angels, the assistants, the workers,
the interns and the students, mentors, the muses and the guides
That will surround you.

So be not afraid to rise
Take off the mask and quit holding up others
That’s doing pretty damn good on their own

Love and believe in yourself enough,
To raise your head and lift your gifts
And be that light that comes forth in this reality
Doing only what you can do the way you do it.

There are pre-appointed fans, followers, students, and givers,
seed sowers and sponsors, waiting and earmarked just for you
They were born to be apart of your journey
