A Small Word of Encouragement
howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas
where we are still in a heat wave, the temperature today is 111
degrees. I just checked our thermometer in the shade and that
one is 105.
Our internet was down for hours today so I am way behind but
still it's been a great day because I came in first place in Asher's
Engagement League contest for the 6th week in a row and set
several records as well, so I am very thankful and feel very
blessed.
Sorry for the shameless plug but it actually should be seen as
a word of encouragement. "you're up there at the top of the
Engagement Leagues man no wonder you're doing so great!"
...I can hear someone say that now, especially if they are new
to Steemit.
But let me encourage you by telling you this: I've never been on a
social media site before now, I'm not a writer, I'm not a blogger,
I'm not any kind of author by a long shot, I'm a very slow typist,
I'm not a good speller, my internet connection is slow, my internet
connection goes in and out on me creating havoc with my Steemit
work, and if that ain't bad enough..
I'm just a simple, redneck country boy who doesn't know much
and don't have anything to share with the world!
So take heart. If I can do this so can you and much better!
"what's your secret then mr. highfalutin? six wins in a row and
world records set, who do you think you are?" lol.
First of all, I ain't much in man's eyes.. but God loves me more
than I can fathom and that same love is in me. So my secret is to walk
in His love and spread that love to everyone I meet online or off.
In the Engagement League comments today the great @davemccoy
called me King Janton the Joyous! lol, I love that nick-name but I
would get rid of the King part. but that's actually an accurate
description of me and how I engage with you all. It's just a love thing.
The best way to build friendships.
"well that's just wonderful but how does that get you to the top man?"
Well in my case it's stubbornness. I'm outclassed, outsmarted, under
qualified and not as skilled in ANY category as almost every other
dang person on this platform.
So that's where the stubbornness comes in, I just keep plugging
away and never give up.
The league is put on by the amazing Asher @abh12345 if you want to
join. It's a great way to get involved and get more connections to
wonderful people.
They welcome all competition if you want to give it a try but I gotta
warn you, there's some super hard working people in the top ten list
and it's not easy to get on there, but very rewarding and challenging.
Asher rewards in Steem.
That's it for today folks, God bless you all!
-jonboy Texas
the gentleman redneck
ps- ya know, you might just be a redneck if:
you have more than 2 brothers named Bubba or Junior!
I just read in my devotional today Christian means "little Christ" to pattern ourselves after Christ - today devotional was titled "Yielding Into Givenness"... If we call ourselves Christians, then people should recognize it by the way we live and give of ourselves. It's all about showing God's love to others. I know that's the way I'm trying to live...we could really use a lot more of God's love being spread around in this world! Oh yeah, my husband's outside as I type this trying to water our grass so it won't die on these 109 degree days! I think relief is coming in the form of maybe only 98 degree high this Tuesday for us here in the Dallas area!
lol! that 98 is going to feel cool isn't it? crazy. my wife was in Waco today and it was 113 down there!
but to your main point, yes Ma'am it is our duty, calling and responsibility to spread the love of Christ every chance we get, even if we don't feel like it. thanks so much for commenting and try to stay cool!
The secret is you are just being yourself and you are humble to give glory to God for what you are:
Your nothing is original and funny and informative. You are also consistent in spite of all obstacles. I have no idea what the Asher reward is. Maybe a link would help. I'm just having fun reading your cowboy posts and redneck jokes.
howdy @mineopoly! good to hear from you, I assume you are back slaving away, back from that beautiful island?
thank you sir for your kind words, you are awesome!

I read the full article @janton. You are a true Steemian. Congratulations!! The facts speak for themselves.
thank you sir, I am trying and people like you are what makes it worth while because you help and teach others and are great supporters!
I should also say great role models for the younger ones.
Congrats you stubborn Kansas in Texas Steemian, first place is huge on that engagement contest. I see you everywhere commenting and I'm like
Hehe, congrats again. Keep at it, comments especially your thoughtful comments are appreciated both to the newbies and the ol' timers.
haha! hey @lovenfreedom... are you calling yourself and ol' timer?
All I do is ask questions and be friendly because I care about people, I'm sure you're the same way but you don't have the time to spend commenting like I do, nor would you want to, I wouldn't think. lol.
and I don't have the gift of writing like glenalbrethsen or themanwithnoname who can write huge comments of over a thousand words so I have to make it up in volume so that's what I do.
thank you for the kind words! God bless you!
You are a great encouragement here, always commenting and engaging. I'm really glad you're on Steemit, especially now since so many active users have vanished. @ironshield
howdy @ironshield and thanks for your kind words, I'm so thankful that you are on here as well. those people will probably be back though won't they?
hey when do we get another Ahikar type story series? lol
I'm thinking of doing "The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs" next. The final words of advice from the Sons of Jacob before they died in Egypt. These testimonies would have been made long before the story of Ahikar, before the Exodus even! There are some amazing Messianic prophecies included in these testimonies. @ironshield
howdy today @ironshield! ..and these stories and or prophecies are from ancient Jewish texts but not the Bible?
We don't know very much about these texts, except that they are very old. How old? Some say original, others say about 100 years before Christ, others say after Christ. I don't really know, but I find the texts fascinating still.
Twelve books will take a while to get through! They're fairly short, but a lot of bible connection can be made.
@ironshield
I love that sir ironshield, it will be just like the story of Ahikar!
In a sense, you demonstrate the power of positive focused intention! And I really like your graphic: So often people are more likely to reach for an excuse, than for a way to keep going forward. I also like that you go forth with Christ Consciousness!
Bright Blessings!
howdy there @whitelightxpress! so good to see you here and thank you, I am trying to spread Christ's love where ever and when ever I can. It is true that people usually use an excuse unless they are very driven, I guess that's human nature.
thank you so much for reading and commenting, is your username the name of a ministry? It's very unusual and intriguing!
Thanks @janton; you are welcome.
It is both my ministry and a worldwide healing and prayer organization; non-denominational but based in Christ Consciousness and the power of positive focused intent. 17 years and going strong!
Bright Blessings!
thank you @whitelightxpress! did I see a website that you operate? do you take prayer requests?
YOWZERS!
I just checked out thermometer and it is almost 8am here with a cool temp of 61-degrees! We finally broke out of the major heat wave here.. but it's comin' back!
Stay cool! Drink lots of ice cold lemonade!
haha! I love lemonade! it's a good excuse to drink gallons of it. my wife was in Waco and it was 113 down there! with alot of humidity.
61 sounds like heaven about now!
but yes, summer ain't over yet so you guys will be back in the 90s?
Congratulations.
Since I'm in a similar situation with internet I hear ya!
Hours sometimes to download a pic! You deserve it!
And inspiring to newbies like me :-)
thank you @sugarcreek! ..well..I see a great future for you here because homesteading is so popular on Steemit. just look at papa-pepper!
and, I have a feeling that you are just as stubborn as I am! so you'll do fine! what does your husband think about Steemit?
My husband doesn't do computer stuff. He likes the idea of sharing. He is always bragging to his coworkers about my garden and critters. He likes having me home and so do the critters. But I miss paychecks.... Not the jobs... Just the extra to help with projects. He's hoping I can make a few dollars from the homestead and Steemit. But I realize the chances of making money on computer.
My gardens will profit, pray for me that I can move to my land by fall!
yes Ma'am I will join my faith with you all for that prayer! If you see a guy called smithlabs on your posts I recommended him, he's one of the best, he's got a heart of gold and is a brilliant inventor and into all kinds of things, he's an expert on electricity including solar power and dang near anything you can think of he's done or seen it or worked on it or knows someone who has. In short, he's amazing so I think you will love talking to him. he's designing and putting in his own solar power and a greenhouse, he's a herb expert among many other things. so expect him to show up. smithlabs.
He did show up awesome!
Thank you so much
you're welcome, he's a great guy!
You are the most consistent in all areas! Proud of you sir!!
howdy back @thefarmerswife! thank you for the kind words, you and Farmer are the best role models on here! God bless you guys!
Congratulations again @janton! You did a great job again this week and deserve the plug as well :)
you did awesome too Lynn, with all the things you work on and are involved with and do??
People should be asking when YOU sleep!
well, sir noname said he was somewhat burned out by trying so hard last week and coming up short so he may not be in a position for third.
Thanks @janton, I appreciate that! I've got my hands in quite a few things here, that's for sure 😅
Well done @janton. You are very engaging and have a wonderful social communication skill. I had never heard of this kind of competition but it sound great. Enjoy the feeling.
thank you Ma'am but it's just talking with fine folk like yourself who makes it possible so really everyone should get a split! lol.
