HOLLER OUT Tuesday: Homesteaders On Steemit & Some Surprises For Those Mentioned Today

HOLLER OUT TUESDAY.jpg

Today is the day of the week that I do my weekly HOLLER OUT to other homesteading steemians who have influenced me, offered support or made a post that really spoke to me. Last week you may remember I had a featured homesteader, as well as the four other homesteaders.

The FEATURED HOMESTEADER is just a favorite that I have found this past week. And to add a little twist to it all... Every week the featured homesteader will receive one-100% UPvote from me (they get to pick which post I will Upvote in the next day or two of this posting) AND when this post pays out next week after the seven days, he or she will receive 5sbd in their wallet.

The remaining four honorees of this HOLLER OUT Tuesday will each receive one steem from me. Again, when this post has been live for seven days and pays out next Tuesday. Consider this a Pre-and-Post Holiday gift from me to you.

'Tis the season for giving and sharing! And in the holiday spirit, I am giving.

HOMESTEADERS on steemit!

FEATURED HOMESTEADER

@bobydimitrov is my featured homesteader this week!

You have to read this post about tending the wild!
He shares his experiences with grafting fruit trees and other plants.

The common complaint is "grafting is complicated and only trained specialists can do it properly!" That's obviously not true, as I've managed to successfully graft dozens of scions with as little as 15 minutes of instruction, a simple pocket knife and a few tries

BUT WAIT! There's more...

Sadly, the notebook containing the varieties list and sources, as well as other gardening notes got... erm...

You WILL NEVER guess the fate of his beloved notebook!

The Four Honoree Homesteaders

@ronbo100

@ronbo1000 is VERY new to steemit and has been posting about his life in Alaska. He has pictures of moose, the Alaskan Dull Sheep and my favorite about his Alaskan homestead during the wintertime. Boy Oh Boy... does it look cold! Take a minute, stop over to his page and say HI!
And see some amazing (and very cold) pictures of what his homestead looks like at -50/degrees

Frost builds up on everything.Inside of the House frost/ice will start showing up at minus 50

@soulturtle

@soulturtle is another homesteader and gardener that I discovered through @lindsaybowes post about sharing good news! Check out his post the Good News about Chennai's Seed Festival. I wish there were more places and events like this here in the USA; or even Michigan!

The seed festival happened in June this year at Anna University in Chennai. I happened to be in town at the time and as it was a rare opportunity, I decided to go for it to be inspired by farmers from across India

@eaglespirit

@eaglespirit shares SO much about her culture and spirituality on her page. I don't know where to begin by picking out a favorite post she has made. And some of her photography? WOW!

I mean... Just look at this view!

I took this photo on my way home from work one day and it was moments like these that I found some semblance of peace.

Here is the link to her post so you can read more about it

@bettertogether

@bettertogether has some WONDERFUL posts along with some videos for you all to enjoy!
From developing raw land to a homestead to converting a shed to a home. This family lives on seven acres of land in central Texas and are taking us all along for the ride as they transform the land into their homestead.

I'm honored and humbled and amazed all in the same time! I really wish I could write a lengthy thank-you note, however the pool of chicken broth on the bathroom floor seems to be creeping out and I just have to intervene. (don't ask)

Is anything required of me, other than my eternal gratitude? If I could choose a post for upvoting, I'd go with my Asparagus or Cuttings tutorial. Thanks!

You know.. I have to ask... chicken broth... bathroom floor... odd combination!

And you're welcome! Welcome to steemit and the homesteadersonline!

OK here goes. Our little girl loves to play "cooking". Usually that's contained to putting some odd bits and pieces in a plate and bringing it to someone to "have a bite". However, at special occasions (each time we don't keep a close eye), it's soup time.

That means a cup or a small pot of water, stirred with legos, beads, seeds, small river stones, whathaveyou, that's being "fed" to an assortment of animal toys with a spoon.

Knowing the... irrigating nature of this game, we encourage it to be played in the bathroom. At very special times, like a few days ago, both the wife and me are busy, while our girl is given a mug of warm tea or broth to drink with piece of bread, like a light breakfast.

Then it's all no holds barred. It's broth bath for the animals, "swimmy-swimmy" for the dolls, you get the picture!

As Neil Armstrong (should have) said: It's a small game for children, but a giant chore for humanity! :D

OMGosh! Priceless!

What a mess! I sure don't miss those days of the kids when they were little creating messes! Now I just have to pick up after my husband- although.. there are times when he can produce a bigger mess than a toddler!

Thank you for the feature. I've also been discovering so many useful posts just by following you. It's incredible how you can run your homestead, write your blog and still find time to help and contribute to the community here. This kind of encouragement and motivation is the best kind of reward I could've hoped for. Perhaps someday, I'll find my own way of giving back to the community. Thanks again for the amazing work you're doing by bridging connections and growing the community!

I am at my best when I am constantly busy. I absolutely LOVE all of the things you mentioned and when you have such a deep im-bedded passion for something, you go at full force and with desires of success.

And you're welcome!

What a nice gesture to those on steemit doing quality homesteading! People may not hear of others in the community without someone pointing to them. I know I will be checking these bloggers out. Thank you!

You're welcome! I do this every Tuesday- some of the people featured may be known to some, but not others- so I take a few minutes every week and call attention to homesteaders that I have found interesting and have great things to add to our community and group.

I love this! I can't use either link though. It says I don't have access. That photograph included with @eaglespirit post is stunning! :D I'll have to go check out the post to go with it. :D Thanks for sharing this wonderful post. God bless you, have an awesome day! :D

Thank you @frostyamber!
Wonder why the links aren't working... hmmm... maybe I did something wrong... dang it! I'll check it out

You too- have a fabulous day!

You're welcome! :D
I just tried the first link again and it worked. Yay! :D The second link is working too, woohoo! I don't know if you did something that fixed it or if I didn't something wrong the first time, either way they are both working so that is fantastic! :D
God bless, have an awesome day! :D

Great! Glad to hear the links are now working! I stress those little things lol

Me too, I'm always worried its me because technology doesn't love me like it should. :D LOL. :D

We still keep a few chickens but I am not able at this time to do much. Fell a couple years ago and haven't recovered as good as I had hoped but we still plod on.

I can relate @pastorike. I had a fall two years ago and fractured my femur- just can't do things like I used to before that break.
I know age has a lot to do with it too, but it seems once you fall, there's no going back from it.

Hip replacement myself

Ouch! My mom has had both her done, and my dad has had two knee replacements on the same knee. Looks like genetically I am doomed!

I'm a hollering b/c Steem is rising up for Xmas !! Peace !!

AWESOME NEWS! We love to hear that!!!!

Wow I’m speechless. This blog is so beautiful. It’s not only that I’m an honorary mention (yay!), its your kindness and style of writing that is so good! Thank you so so much for this acknowledgement, it means the world to me.

You're VERY welcome!
I work from 4:30am until 3pm usually and takes peeks in all throughout the night and I LOVE reading posts and commenting.

And thank you for the kind words! Back in the day... in another lifetime... I was a newspaper reporter and ghost writer for authors. I love to write and steemit has been so WONDERFUL to me and @fulltimegeek has blessed me delegation and I want to share it as he would have wanted me to.

I Love that you're holding this down! What a great idea, thanks for being a bridge for steemit homesteaders.

You're welcome! hard to believe I've been on steemit for almost six months and I have carried out this traditional post EVERY week. I love doing it!

Great! Its good to learn who the other homesteaders are on steemit!

There's so many of us and I love rounding them up!

Thank you very much, I have a lot to learn on steemit but am trying. I find steemit very interesting and enjoy reading the posts
