One of @thegreens’ principal objectives is to support environmental education and action on the steem blockchain.
We currently have plans of starting the Steemit Environmental Club (SEC) and Environmental Activists Network (EAN) but while we wait, we are ready to start recognizing and rewarding steemians around the globe for going green during the week via the Green Deeds Contest.

Green deeds are simple actions we take to create a healthier, safer and more sustainable planet.

They can be as simple as;

• refusing single use plastics,
• planting trees,
• switching off lights when not in use
• educating people about environmental protection,
• community clean-ups,
• community service,
• walking or bicycling,
• going digital or online advocacy,
• promoting local production and consumption,
• homesteading, etc.

This week, we want you to tell us if you've ever planted a tree. In your post, you should tell us the kind of tree you planted, why you planted the tree, where you planted the tree and anything important about the tree you planted.

While we wait to read tree stories, we are also giving Steemians who pledged to do something for the environment the opportunity to realize and report about their pledges. This implies, you can chose to participate in the trees story or report about how you realized your pledge or participate in both as two separate posts.

You all are 1st Prize winners and are receiving 02 Steem each because these are still pledges. Any pledge realized between now and the end of the month and reported with evidence will receive 05 Steem for realization whereas the best pledge transformed into action will receive an additional 05 Steem.

Contest Duration

The second edition of the contest will run from today to Saturday `17th July 2021 at 23:59AM.

Prizes

1. All contest entries will receive 01 Steem each as well as upvotes, comments and resteems from @thegreens and @steem-cameroon
   Participants who will be realizing their pledges will receive 05 Steem each for any pledge realized.
2. The best three entries will receive 05, 04 and 03 Steem each.
