So much thunder that it rained. That's how a famous proverb goes, to indicate the inevitability of a fact that has been announced for a long time following several premonitory signs, and the achievement of the top of the table by Antonio Conte's Inter appears to accomplish, on the 22nd day, what many, including myself, suspected would happen from the beginning.
By beating Lazio in Sunday night's match at San Siro, the Nerazzurri finally occupied for the first time in the season the place that seems to compete most with them, due to the quality of the roster and the possibility of concentrating all their efforts on a single competition, something not allowed to the six teams following in the standings.
The victory against Lazio, one of the worst teams to face at the moment, coming from six consecutive victories, was a clear sign of the technical, physical and mental strength of the group, able to quickly put behind them the elimination from the Coppa Italia suffered at the hands of Juventus a few days before. Antonio Conte is often blamed for not being able to find a solution when things go wrong, but it pains me to admit that as a "regenerator" he has nothing to envy to the best in the world.
Now the Scudetto is in the hands of Inter, and this is a very bad news for all the opponents, starting from Milan, that unexpectedly defeated by the excellent Spezia, lost for the first time in the season the lead of the ranking. The slowdown of the Rossoneri seems as evident as widely predictable, and the three defeats suffered in the last month, if we want to consider also the one in the Coppa Italia, say a lot about the state of form of the team of Pioli.
AC Milan has played a season so far above all expectations (and for this we have to give credit to the management, which has risked several market shots, and to the coach), but arrived at a time when the points begin to weigh double, the feeling had from the beginning that the team is not yet equipped to compete at the highest levels, seems to be slowly confirmed. The red and black formation begins to resemble one of those marathon runners who, having to deal with opponents more valuable, asks too much to their legs in the first kilometres, and then remain inexorably out of gasoline: the derby next week will relaunch the former leader or, as it seems more likely, will give her the final blow?
In the meantime, Roma is back in third place, not failing the home match against Udinese and, despite not having yet won a single match against the first eight teams in the league table, showing everyone that it is even more important not to lose points against opponents of the same or lower level. What the Fonseca team needs to finally turnaround and become a serious contender for the Scudetto is hard to say, but the performance against Juventus last week gives hope to the Giallorossi fans that from here to the end Roma can change gear even against the big teams.
In a crazy championship like this one anything can still happen, and who knows that finding continuity even against the most emblazoned teams, Roma will not become the surprise of this end of season. In the meantime, the Giallorossi were able to put behind Juventus, once again victim of their tactical confusion and lack of gameplay identity, in addition to the bad day of all their most representative men.
Those of you who have had the goodness to read me in the past few weeks know how strongly I have criticised Pirlo for the defensive shift seen in the double match against Inter and the game against Roma; although this led to two wins and a draw, and qualification for the final, I remain of the opinion that the "Allegri-like" way of playing can only hurt a team in the long run, and judging by the poor first half in Naples, I'm afraid I'm not too far off the mark.
If the bianconeri can count on a chance to obtain some important goal this year, this is due to an unprejudiced and offensive tactical system. In the first part of the season the team has often harvested less than what it sowed, but all this, in the initial plans, should have been propaedeutic, once all the tactical dictates have been sent to regime, to a great end of season or, however, to a next championship to live as protagonists: to stop suddenly an evident growth process, to speculate on some points or some less conceded goals can perhaps bring immediate fruits, but when you are taken by the enemy for ninety minutes you cannot but, sooner or later, suffer the consequences.

And so Napoli beat the Bianconeri without a single shot on goal, thanks to a penalty kick (converted by Insigne), questionable but not scandalous, due to an inconceivable approach to the match of the rivals, as inconceivable I find it was from Pirlo to ask the players to set the season with a certain philosophy, only to take it all back on the most important moment. Winning the rematch against the same Napoli, Juve has the chance to get to minus five points from Inter, which would theoretically leave them still in the race for the victory, on condition that they return, from now until the end of the season, to pursue the initial tactical design.
Napoli, Atalanta and Lazio, all paired with 40 points, will compete with Roma and Juventus for the last two places available for the next Champions League, but taking for granted the arrival of Inter among the first four, I wouldn't be surprised if Milan should face, from now until the end of the season, a small vertical collapse, which could even suck it out of the noble positions.
And besides the positions that mean relegation, for the moment, Torino has been brought, that since the arrival on the bench of Davide Nicola, has so far collected four draws in as many games, recovering two goals of disadvantage in Benevento and even three in Bergamo, in the match against Atalanta; good luck has so far been a friend of the second team of Turin, but not having yet obtained even a home success, almost two-thirds of the championship, is an indication of the poor quality available to the team of the president Cairo and a project voted to save money that has, year after year, increasingly impoverished the squad.
Luckily for the Granata, some teams, in addition to Crotone that already seems destined to the last place, are going through unexpected periods of crisis, such as Cagliari and Parma, and just from the challenge with the Sardinians of next week pass many of the actual chances of Torino to be saved: Losing in Sardinia would mean a further blow to the morale of the team, that seeing itself again bypassed to the fourth-last place would risk to face a second part of the season even more nightmarish, especially if at the same time should arrive also the first victory of the Parma, coached again by D'Aversa, in the home match against Udinese.
The Serie A is getting ready to live next week a very important round not only in the relegation zone, because in addition to the already mentioned derby Milan-Inter is scheduled also a very interesting Atalanta-Napoli, a rematch of the semi-final of the Coppa Italia and the challenge between Benevento and Roma, while the champions of Italy of Juventus, hosting Crotone last in the standings, have the opportunity to recover ground on the teams in front of them.

tanto tuonò che piovve. Così recita un famoso proverbio, volto ad indicare l'inevitabilità di un fatto annunciato da tempo in seguito a diversi segnali premonitori, e il raggiungimento della vetta della classifica da parte dell'Inter di Antonio Conte appare compiere, alla ventiduesima giornata, quello che fin dall'inizio in tanti, me compreso, sospettavano sarebbe accaduto.
Battendo la Lazio nella partita di domenica sera a San Siro, i nerazzurri hanno finalmente occupato per la prima volta in stagione il posto che sembra loro competere più di tutti, per la qualità della rosa e per la possibilità di concentrare tutti i propri sforzi solo su di un'unica competizione, cosa non permessa alle sei squadre che seguono in classifica.
La vittoria ottenuta nei confronti dei capitolini, una delle formazioni peggiori da affrontare in questo momento, proveniente da sei vittorie consecutive, è stato un chiaro segnale di forza tecnica, fisica e mentale del gruppo, in grado di mettersi in fretta alle spalle anche l'eliminazione dalla Coppa Italia patita per mano della Juventus pochi giorni prima. A Conte viene spesso imputato il fatto di non essere in grado di trovare una soluzione quando le partite si mettono male, ma mi duole ammettere che come "rigeneratore" non ha nulla da invidiare ai migliori del mondo.
Ora lo scudetto è nelle mani dell'Inter, e questa è una pessima notizia per tutte le avversarie, a partire dal Milan, che surclassato inaspettatamente dall'ottimo Spezia, ha perso per la prima volta in stagione il comando della classifica. Il rallentamento dei rossoneri appare tuttavia tanto evidente quanto ampiamente prevedibile, e le tre sconfitte patite nell'ultimo mese, se si vuole considerare anche quella della Coppa Italia, la dicono lunga sullo stato di forma della squadra di Pioli.
Il **Milan ha disputato sin qui una stagione al di sopra di ogni aspettativa (e di questo va dato merito alla dirigenza, che ha azzeccato diversi colpi di mercato, e all'allenatore), ma giunti ad un periodo in cui i punti cominciano a pesare il doppio, la sensazione avuta fin dall'inizio che la squadra non sia ancora attrezzata per competere ad altissimi livelli, sembra venire lentamente confermata. La formazione rossonera comincia ad assomigliare ad uno di quei maratoneti che, dovendosi confrontare con avversari più quotati, chiede troppo alle proprie gambe nei primi chilometri, per poi rimanere inesorabilmente senza benzina: il derby della settimana prossima rilancerà alla grande la ex capolista o, come appare più probabile, darà a lei la mazzata finale?
Intanto al terzo posto torna la Roma, che non fallisce la prova casalinga con l'Udinese e che nonostante non possa ancora contare su nemmeno una vittoria contro le prime otto squadre della classifica, sta dimostrando a tutti come sia ancora più importante non perdere punti con avversari di pari o inferiore livello. Cosa manchi alla squadra di Fonseca per svoltare definitivamente e diventare una seria candidata per lo scudetto è difficile da dire, ma la prestazione offerta contro la Juventus la settimana scorsa lascia comunque ben sperare i tifosi giallorossi del fatto che da qui alla fine la Roma possa cambiare marcia anche contro le grandi.
In un campionato pazzo come questo tutto può ancora accadere, e chissà che ritrovando continuità anche contro le squadre più blasonate, la Roma non diventi la sorpresa di questo finale di stagione. Intanto i giallorossi sono riusciti nuovamente a mettersi alle spalle la Juventus, una volta ancora vittima della propria confusione tattica e della mancata identità di gioco, oltre che della giornata storta di tutti i suoi uomini più rappresentativi.
Chi ha avuto la bontà di leggermi nelle settimane passate, sa quanto io abbia fortemente criticato Pirlo per la svolta difensivista vista nella doppia sfida con l'Inter e nella partita con la Roma; sebbene questo abbia portato a due vittorie ed un pareggio, con tanto di qualificazione alla finale, rimango del parere che il modo di giocare "alla Allegri" alla lunga non possa che portare nocumento in una squadra, e a giudicare dal pessimo primo tempo di Napoli, temo di non essere andato troppo lontano dalla verità.
Se i bianconeri possono contare su una possibilità di ottenere qualche traguardo importante quest'anno, questa passa per forza di cose da un sistema tattico spregiudicato e offensivo. Nella prima parte di stagione la squadra ha raccolto spesso meno di quanto seminato, ma il tutto, nei piani iniziali, sarebbe dovuto essere propedeutico, una volta mandati a regime tutti i dettami tattici, ad un gran finale di stagione o comunque ad un prossimo campionato da vivere da protagonisti: fermare all'improvviso un processo di crescita evidente, per speculare su qualche punto o qualche goal incassato in meno può forse portare frutti nell'immediato, ma quando si viene presi a pallate dal nemico per novanta minuti non puoi che, presto o tardi, patirne le conseguenze.
E così il Napoli ha battuto i bianconeri senza nemmeno un tiro in porta, grazie ad un calcio di rigore (trasformato da Insigne)discutibile ma non scandaloso, per via di un approccio alla gara inconcepibile dei rivali, come inconcepibile trovo sia stato da parte di Pirlo chiedere ai giocatori di impostare la stagione con una determinata filosofia, per poi rimangiarsi tutto sul più bello. Vincendo la gara di recupero con lo stesso Napoli, la Juve ha la possibilità di portarsi a meno cinque punti dall'Inter, cosa che teoricamente la lascerebbe ancora in corsa per la vittoria, a patto di tornare, da qui alla fine della stagione, a perseguire il disegno tattico iniziale.
Napoli, Atalanta e Lazio, tutte appaiate a quota 40 punti, si giocheranno con Roma e Juventus gli ultimi due posti disponibili per la prossima Champions League, ma dando per scontato l'arrivo dell'Inter tra le prime quattro, non mi sorprenderei se il Milan dovesse affrontare, da qui a fine stagione, un piccolo crollo verticale, che potrebbe addirittura risucchiarla fuori dalle posizioni nobili.
E al di là delle posizioni che significano retrocessione si è per ora portato il Torino, che dall'arrivo sulla panchina granata di Davide Nicola, ha fino ad oggi collezionato quattro pareggi in altrettante partite, recuperando due goal di svantaggio a Benevento e addirittura tre a Bergamo, nella partita con l'Atalanta; la buona sorte è fin qui stata amica della seconda squadra di Torino, ma non aver ancora ottenuto nemmeno un successo casalingo, a quasi due terzi del campionato, è indice della scarsa qualità a disposizione della squadra del presidente Cairo e di un progetto votato al risparmio che ha, anno dopo anno, impoverito sempre di più la rosa.
Per fortuna dei granata alcune squadre, oltre al Crotone che appare già destinato all'ultimo posto, stanno attraversando periodi di crisi del tutto inaspettati, come Cagliari e Parma, e proprio dalla sfida con i sardi della settimana prossima passano molte delle effettive possibilità del Torino di salvarsi: perdere in Sardegna significherebbe un'ulteriore mazzata al morale della squadra, che vedendosi di nuovo scavalcata al quartultimo posto rischierebbe di affrontare una seconda parte di stagione ancora più da incubo, specialmente se in contemporanea dovesse arrivare anche la prima vittoria del Parma, targato nuovamente D'Aversa, nelle gara casalinga con l'Udinese.
La Serie A si appresta a vivere la settimana prossima un turno molto importante non solo in zona salvezza però, perchè oltre al già citato derby Milan-Inter è in programma anche un interessantissimo Atalanta-Napoli, rivincita della semifinale di Coppa Italia e la sfida tra Benevento e Roma, mentre i campioni d'Italia della Juventus, ospitando il Crotone ultimo in classifica, hanno la possibilità di recuperare terreno sulle squadre che li precedono.
