After last night's match between Fiorentina and Inter, which saw the Nerazzurri triumph 2-0 (don't miss the appointment with Monday's Serie A review), this evening at the Allianz Stadium in Turin the second big match of the day will take place, which will see the Italian champions Juventus and Roma face each other in what appears to be a sort of play-off for third place.
Both teams arrive at the match with the wind in their sails, having won the same number of matches in the previous two days of the championship and the challenge, which over the years has often been a source of great agonism and controversy, promises to be a thrilling one; In case of victory, Roma*, after the success obtained in the last day of the championship, could for the first time in its history beat Juventus twice in a row away, while the Bianconeri will aim to touch up the record in the box of victories against their rivals, who see in the Bianconeri the team of the Serie A able to beat them more times ever.
This year will be the 87th edition of the match between Juventus and Roma, with the hosts clearly ahead in terms of victories, with 55 wins compared to just nine for their rivals, but the prediction remains essentially open, partly because of the unpredictability that this season is reserving at each day, and partly because of the characteristics of the two teams, who have so far often alternated great performances with disconcerting debacles.
Choosing four matches from all those played over the years was not an easy task, also because we had to exclude many matches that have gone into history, such as the two draws, decisive for the Scudetto of Juventus in 1981 (0-0) and of Roma in 2001 (2-2), but I hope that my selection of the most beautiful matches of the past between these two teams can also on this occasion serve as a good omen for a great show.

After nine years of fasting, Juventus in the hands of Antonio Conte is in the middle of a fight to win the 30th Scudetto in its history, in a point-to-point duel with Milan, Italian champions, second only a length behind the Bianconeri. Five days from the end, the Piedmontese host Roma, apparently the last big obstacle that the calendar has in store before the coveted goal, aware of having to put on an exceptional performance to get the better of their always hostile rivals.
Juve immediately annihilated the Giallorossi thanks to a double from Arturo Vidal in just eight minutes, and closed the game out with a goal from Andrea Pirlo on the half-hour mark, who slotted into the net after a penalty was saved by Curci.
The second half turns into a long afternoon of celebration for the Old Lady, thanks to the goal of Marchisio, but especially for the simultaneous draw of Milan with Bologna, which will give the start to the decisive breakaway to win the Scudetto, while Roma will end the season in seventh place.

The two protagonists of the Scudetto fight in the previous championship met in Turin on the seventh day to continue their duel even in the 1981/82 season. Juventus led the standings thanks to six victories in the previous six days, while Roma found themselves three points behind, due to unexpected draws against Avellino, Cesena and Torino.
The Italian champions had a golden opportunity to make a decisive dent in their opponents' morale, but the match, rather blocked by mutual reverential fear, was only decided in the opening minutes of the second half, when a defensive blunder in the Bianconeri's area allowed the Brazilian Falcao to score the decisive goal and begin the celebrations for a victory that had been awaited for a year.
After this match, Roma will win against Bologna, which will bring them alone at the top of the table, but at the end of the season it will be again Juventus to celebrate the conquest of the championship, while the Giallorossi will have to be satisfied with the third position, behind also Fiorentina.
Juventus' biggest victory

Now in the 22nd day of the 1931/32 championship, Italian football fans are preparing to experience the season finale to find out who, between Bologna and Juventus, will win the Scudetto. The two teams are separated by three points, with the team from Emilia looking down on everyone, but the third wheel in this struggle is Roma, which with a four-point gap from the Bianconeri has the last chance to get back into the Scudetto race in the match in Turin.
However, Juventus dominated the game from top to bottom and after 20 minutes found themselves leading 4-0. A goal from Roma's Bernardini five minutes before half-time tried to make sense of the game, but even in the second half Roma were unable to offer any resistance to their unbridled opponents, who scored three more times in one of the most inexplicable games in Giallorossi history.
A few days later, Bologna also went into crisis, allowing the Piedmontese to overtake them in the standings and win the fourth Scudetto in their history, while Roma finished third, fourteen points behind.

The last day of the strangest and saddest championship in the history of Italian football, ends in the bleak setting of the Allianz Stadium in Turin closed to the public, with a great classic match, useless for the purpose of the standings, since both teams can no longer change their position, but full of meaning for the rivalry that has always existed between the two clubs.
The hosts, already champions of Italy since two rounds, take the lead after just five minutes thanks to the last goal in the black and white shirt of Gonzalo Higuain, but they are put back by a goal of Kalinic on the development of a corner kick, and by a penalty kick quite doubtful, made by Perotti at the end of the first half.
In the second half, another Perotti counter-attack increased the score for the visitors, who wasted a few chances to add goals to their tally.
Juventus prepared in the worst possible way for the return match against Lyon, valid for the Champions League, from which they were eliminated despite a 2-1 victory, but also Roma, fifth at the end of the championship, did not have better luck, being defeated by Sevilla 2-0 in the round of 16 of the Europa League.

dopo la partita di ieri sera tra Fiorentina e Inter, che ha visto trionfare i nerazzurri per 2-0 (non perdete a riguardo l'appuntamento con Serie A review di lunedì), questa sera all'Allianz Stadium di Torino andrà in scena il secondo big match della giornata, che vedrà affrontarsi la Juventus campione d'Italia e la Roma, in quello che appare al momento come una sorta di spareggio per il terzo posto.
Entrambe le formazioni arrivano alla partita con il vento in poppa, in quanto reduci da altrettante vittorie nelle precedenti due giornate di campionato e la sfida, che nel corso degli anni è stata spesso foriera di grande agonismo e polemiche, si preannuncia anche in questa occasione scoppiettante; in caso di vittoria, la Roma*, dopo il successo ottenuto nell'ultima giornata dello scorso campionato, potrebbe per la prima volta nella sua storia battere per due volte di fila in trasferta la Juventus, mentre dal canto loro i bianconeri puntano a ritoccare il dato nella casella delle vittorie nei confronti dei rivali, che vedono proprio nei bianconeri la squadra della Serie A capace di batterli più volte in assoluto.
Quella di quest'anno sarà la ottantasettesima edizione della sfida tra Juventus e Roma, con i padroni di casa nettamente avanti nel computo delle vittorie, potendo contare su 55 affermazioni contro appena nove dei rivali, ma il pronostico rimane sostanzialmente aperto, un po' per l'imprevedibilità che questa stagione sta riservando ad ogni giornata, un po' per le caratteristiche delle due squadre, che fin qui hanno più volte alternato grandi prestazioni a debacle sconcertanti.
Scegliere quattro partite tra tutte quelle disputate negli anni non è stata impresa semplice, anche perchè si sono dovuti escludere per forza di cose molti match passati alla storia, come i due pareggi, decisivi per lo scudetto della Juventus nel 1981 (0-0) e della Roma nel 2001 (2-2) , ma spero comunque che la mia selezione delle partite più belle del passato tra queste due squadre possa anche in questa circostanza fungere da buon auspicio per un grande spettacolo.
La più bella vittoria della Juventus
Juventus-Roma 4-0 (22 aprile 2012)
Dopo nove anni di digiuno, la Juventus affidata ad Antonio Conte è in piena lotta per la conquista dello scudetto numero trenta della sua storia, in un duello punto a punto con il Milan campione d'Italia, secondo ad una sola lunghezza dai bianconeri. A cinque giornate dalla fine i piemontesi ospitano la Roma, sulla carta l'ultimo grosso ostacolo che il calendario riserva prima dell'agognato traguardo, consci di dover sfoderare una prestazione eccezionale per poter aver ragione dei sempre ostici rivali.
La Juve annichilisce subito i giallorossi grazie ad una doppietta di Arturo Vidal in appena otto minuti, e chiude definitivamente la partita con il goal di Andrea Pirlo alla mezz'ora, che ribatte in rete un rigore a lui parato da Curci.
Il secondo tempo si trasforma in un lungo pomeriggio di festa per la Vecchia Signora, grazie al goal di Marchisio, ma soprattutto per il contemporaneo pareggio del Milan con il Bologna, che darà l'avvio alla fuga decisiva per la conquista dello scudetto bianconero, mentre la Roma concluderà la stagione al settimo posto.
La più bella vittoria della Roma
Juventus-Roma 0-1 (1 novembre 1981)
Le due protagoniste della lotta scudetto del precedente campionato, si ritrovano a Torino alla settima giornata, per continuare anche nella stagione 1981/82 il loro duello. La Juventus comanda la classifica grazie alle sei vittorie ottenute nelle precedenti sei giornate, mentre la Roma si ritrova staccata di tre punti, a causa degli inaspettati pareggi contro Avellino, Cesena e Torino.
I campioni d'Italia hanno un occasione d'oro per rifilare una mazzata decisiva al morale dei capitolini, ma la partita, piuttosto bloccata dal reciproco timore reverenziale, viene decisa solo in apertura del secondo tempo, quando un pasticcio difensivo in area bianconera permette al brasiliano Falcao di rifilare la zampata decisiva e di cominciare i festeggiamenti per una vittoria attesa da un anno.
La Roma otterrà dopo questa partita la vittoria anche contro il Bologna, che la porterà da sola in testa alla classifica, ma alla fine della stagione sarà ancora la Juventus a festeggiare la conquista del campionato, mentre i giallorossi si dovranno accontentare della terza posizione, alle spalle anche della Fiorentina.
La vittoria più larga della Juventus
Juventus-Roma 7-1 (6 marzo 1932)
Giunti alla ventiduesima giornata del campionato 1931/32, gli appassionati di calcio italiani si apprestano a vivere il finale di stagione per scoprire chi, tra Bologna e Juventus, riuscirà ad aggiudicarsi lo scudetto. Le due squadre sono separate da tre punti, con gli emiliani a guardare tutti dall'alto in basso, ma terzo incomodo in questa lotta è proprio la Roma, che con quattro punti di distacco dai bianconeri ha nella partita di Torino l'ultima possibilità di rientrare nel discorso scudetto.
La Juventus tuttavia domina in lungo e in largo la partita e dopo venti minuti si ritrova già in vantaggio per 4-0. La rete del romanista Bernardini a cinque minuti dall'intervallo prova a ridare un senso alla gara, ma anche nel secondo tempo la Roma non riuscirà ad opporre nessuna resistenza agli scatenati avversari, che segneranno altre tre volte, in una delle partite più inspiegabili della storia giallorossa.
Da lì a qualche giornata anche il Bologna andrà in crisi, permettendo così ai piemontesi il sorpasso in classifica e la vittoria del quarto scudetto della loro storia, mentre la Roma chiuderà terza, staccata di quattordici punti.
La vittoria più larga della Roma
Juventus-Roma 1-3 (1 agosto 2020)
L'ultima giornata del campionato più strano e triste della storia del calcio italiano, si conclude nella desolante cornice dell'Allianz Stadium di Torino chiuso al pubblico, con una grande classica, inutile ai fini della classifica, dato che entrambe le squadre non possono più cambiare la loro posizione, ma carica di significato per la rivalità che da sempre esiste tra i due club.
I padroni di casa, già campioni d'Italia da due turni, vanno in vantaggio dopo appena cinque minuti grazie all'ultimo goal in maglia bianconera di Gonzalo Higuain, ma vengono rimontati da un goal di Kalinic sugli sviluppi di un calcio d'angolo, e da un calcio di rigore piuttosto dubbio, realizzato da Perotti allo scadere del primo tempo.
Nella ripresa ancora Perotti in contropiede arrotonda il punteggio per gli ospiti, che sprecano alcune occasioni per aumentare ancora di più il bottino.
La Juventus si prepara così nel peggiore dei modi alla partita di ritorno contro il Lione, valevole per la Champions League, dalla quale verrà infatti malamente eliminata nonostante la vittoria per 2-1, ma anche alla Roma, quinta alla fine del campionato, non toccherà sorte migliore, venendo sconfitta dal Siviglia 2-0 negli ottavi di finale di Europa League.
