The first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals will be played between today and tomorrow, both of which have rather open predictions. At the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, tomorrow evening, Rino Gattuso's Napoli is called upon to give another proof of pride against Atalanta, but the eyes of most Italian football fans will be focused on today's challenge, where Inter and Juventus, the protagonists of the so-called derby of Italy, will once again find themselves facing each other at the San Siro Stadium.
Two weeks have passed since the championship match, in which the Nerazzurri were able to give a real football lesson to the Italian champions, but things seem, at least as far as Juventus are concerned, to have changed completely: in fact, Andrea Pirlo's players have strung together four consecutive victories, bringing home the Super Cup, the first trophy of the season, which has had the effect of a colossal injection of self-esteem in the group.
The double match against Inter appears to be the ultimate test for Juventus: losing badly this evening, or being eliminated without too many chances to fight, would probably make the team slip definitively into a new spiral of depression, but on the other side a success could give the necessary conviction to be able to play until the end even in the championship.
The previous matches played in Milan in the Italian Cup show a great balance between the two teams, with six wins for Inter, five draws and six successes for the Piedmontese. The first challenge dates back to 1936, played at the Arena Civica and valid for the round of 16 (the Bianconeri won 1-0), while the last was in 2016.
We now relive the best matches between Inter and Juventus, played in the Italian Cup in the Lombard capital, with the hope that even in the sad setting of an empty stadium the two challengers will be able to maintain the high level of the competition.
Inter's most exciting victory

In the year of Inter's triplete, one of the biggest obstacles in achieving this historic goal was the quarter-final match of the Coppa Italia, which saw Juventus, coached by Ciro Ferrara in the role of challenger to the then Italian champions.
Despite the numerous absences, the guests faced the match with courage and took the lead with Brazilian Diego after only ten minutes, thanks to a rather obvious mistake by Toldo. The reaction of Inter was not long in coming and in the second half the Nerazzurri first equalized with a free kick taken by Sneijder and deflected by Lucio a few steps from the goal, then finally won the match thanks to the goal of Mario Balotelli, scored a few seconds before the end of regular time.
After having eliminated Fiorentina in the semifinals, Inter won in the final, played at the Olimpico Stadium on May 5th, against Roma for 1-0, winning its sixth Coppa Italia.
Juventus' most exciting victory
Inter v Juventus 1-4 (13 September 1959)
In the second edition of the Coppa Italia since the war, Inter and Juventus faced off in the final, which the draw held four days before the match wanted to be played in the Milanese stadium.
The final, curiously played in September, while the teams of Serie C had already started the preliminary rounds of the next edition, saw the two teams sharing the odds, but the Bianconeri started much better, finding the goal with Charles in the seventh minute, and doubling it just before the half hour with the goleador defender Cervato.
Inter, initially stunned by the fast one-two of the Bianconeri, risked to capitulate, but managed to find again the goal of 1-2 at the end of the first half. In the second half, the match became very exciting, with the hosts attacking headlong, being denied the equalizer in at least two occasions thanks to the miraculous interventions of the goalkeeper Mattrel, before the two masterpieces of Omar Sivori, who scored the 1-3 goal in slalom and provoked the final penalty transformed again by Cervato.
Juventus thus won its third Coppa Italia, becoming, after Lazio, the second team in history to win the tricolour ribbon.
Inter's biggest victory

Recovering from a 3-0 defeat is no easy task, as the then Inter coach Roberto Mancini admitted, but in the return semi-final of the 2015/2016 edition of the Coppa Italia, Inter came very close to achieving a memorable feat.
Absent and listless for the entire 120 minutes of the match, Allegri's players left the ball to the hosts right from the start, and the hosts attacked their opponents with the force of desperation. Brozovic scored the first goal in the 17th minute thanks to a mistake by the Bianconeri defence coming out of their own area, while his compatriot Perisic scored the second in the first minutes of the second half.
With one half left to play, the mountain to climb no longer seemed so high for Inter, who courageously continued to attack and in one of the last actions found a penalty foul on Perisic, which allowed Brozovic to score the 3-0 penalty.
In added time Inter went close to scoring their fourth, but extra time followed, with Juventus' goalkeeper Neto having made a miraculous save in the opening minutes, and the visitors came close to scoring several times, but they manage to qualify only after the penalty shoot-out.
Juventus will win that edition of the Italian Cup, but this match, characterised by an insanely reluctant and superficial attitude, is one of the many examples taken by the fans of the Vecchia Signora to explain their low esteem towards the former coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Juventus' biggest win
Inter v Juventus 2-6 (19 June 1975)
After both having passed the preliminary round, Juventus and Inter were placed in the same Group B of the semi-finals, together with Milan and Bologna, holders of the trophy, and they faced each other at San Siro on the penultimate day, to keep alive the hopes of winning the first place for the passage to the final.
The Bianconeri took the field with a different attitude compared to the unprepared opponents, and managed to take the lead at the first attacking action, with Anastasi; after the draw by Boninsegna, it was Viola's turn to put the guests ahead, who in the second half scored four more times, before the final penalty kick by Boninsegna for the definitive 2-6.
Despite the two final successes over the Milanese teams, Juventus qualified second in the group, behind Milan, destined, however, to lose the final against Fiorentina.

tra oggi e domani si giocheranno le semifinali d'andata di Coppa Italia, che si presentano entrambe dal pronostico piuttosto aperto. Allo stadio Diego Armando Maradona, domani sera, il Napoli di Rino Gattuso è chiamato ad un'altra prova di orgoglio contro l'Atalanta, ma gli occhi di buona parte degli appasionati di calcio italiano saranno concentrati sulla sfida odierna, dove a San Siro si troveranno nuovamente avversarie Inter e Juventus, le protagoniste del cosiddetto derby d'Italia.
Sono passate due settimane dalla partita di campionato, nella quale i nerazzurri furono capaci di impartire una vera e propria lezione di calcio ai campioni d'Italia, ma le cose sembrano, almeno per quel che riguarda la Juventus, completamente cambiate: gli uomini di Andrea Pirlo hanno infatti messo in fila quattro vittorie consecutive, portando a casa la Supercoppa, primo trofeo stagionale, che ha avuto l'effetto di una colossale iniezione di autostima nel gruppo.
La doppia sfida con i meneghini appare come la prova del nove definitiva per la Juventus: perdere malamente questa sera, o essere eliminati senza troppe possibilità di combattere, farebbe verosimilmente scivolare in maniera definitiva la squadra in una nuova spirale depressiva, ma al contrario un successo potrebbe regalare la convinzione necessaria per potersela giocare fino alla fine anche in campionato.
I precedenti giocati a San Siro in Coppa Italia raccontano di un grande equilibrio tra le due squadre, con sei vittorie per l'Inter, cinque pareggi e sei successi dei piemontesi. La prima sfida risale addirittura al 1936, giocata all'Arena Civica e valevole per gli ottavi di finale (vinsero i bianconeri 1-0), mentre l'ultima è del 2016.
Riviviamo ora le migliori sfide tra Inter e Juventus, giocate in Coppa Italia nel capoluogo lombardo, con la speranza che anche nella triste cornice di uno stadio vuoto le due sfidanti saranno capaci di mantenere alto il livello della competizione.
La più bella vittoria dell'Inter
Inter-Juventus 2-1 (28 gennaio 2010)
Nell'anno del triplete interista, uno degli ostacoli più grandi nel raggiungimento di questo obiettivo storico fu la partita dei quarti di finale di Coppa Italia, che vedeva la Juventus, affidata a Ciro Ferrara nel ruolo di sfidante degli allora campioni d'Italia.
Nonostante le numerose assenze, gli ospiti affrontano con coraggio la sfida e passano in vantaggio con il brasiliano Diego dopo soli dieci minuti, grazie ad un errore piuttosto evidente di Toldo. La risposta dell'Inter non si fa attendere e nel secondo tempo i nerazzurri prima pareggiano con un una punizione battuta da Sneijder e deviata da Lucio a pochi passi dalla porta, poi vincono definitivamente la partita grazie al goal di Mario Balotelli, realizzato ad una manciata di secondi dallo scadere dei tempi regolamentari.
Dopo aver eliminato in semifinale anche la Fiorentina, l'Inter vincerà nella finale giocata all'Olimpico il 5 maggio contro la Roma per 1-0, aggiudicandosi la sua sesta Coppa Italia.
La più bella vittoria della Juventus
Inter-Juventus 1-4 (13 settembre 1959)
Nella seconda edizione della Coppa Italia dal dopoguerra, Inter e Juventus si ritrovano in finale, che il sorteggio svolto quattro giorni prima della partita ha voluto si disputasse nello stadio meneghino.
La finale, giocata curiosamente a settembre, mentre le squadre di Serie C hanno già iniziato i turni eliminatori dell'edizione successiva, vede le due squadre dividersi i favori del pronostico, ma i bianconeri partono molto meglio trovando la rete con Charles al settimo minuto, e raddoppiando poco prima della mezz'ora con il difensore goleador Cervato.
L'Inter, inizialmente stordita dal veloce uno-due bianconero, rischia di capitolare, ma riesce a ritrovarsi realizzando allo scadere del primo tempo la rete dell'1-2. Nel secondo tempo la partita diventa bellissima, con i padroni di casa che attaccano a testa bassa, vedendosi negare la rete del pareggio in almeno due occasioni grazie agli interventi miracolosi del portiere Mattrel, prima dei due capolavori di Omar Sivori, che segna in slalom il goal dell'1-3 e provoca il rigore finale trasformato ancora da Cervato.
La Juventus vince così la sua terza Coppa Italia, diventando, dopo la Lazio, la seconda squadra della storia a potersi fregiare della coccarda tricolore.
La vittoria più larga dell'Inter
Inter-Juventus 3-0 (2 marzo 2016)
Recuperare una sconfitta per 3-0 non è impresa semplice, come ammesso dall'allora allenatore interista Roberto Mancini, ma nella semifinale di ritorno dell'edizione 2015/2016 della Coppa Italia, l'Inter va molto vicina a compiere un'impresa memorabile.
Assenti e svagati per tutti i centoventi minuti della sfida, gli uomini di Allegri lasciano il pallino di gioco ai padroni di casa fin dall'inizio, e questi ultimi aggrediscono gli avversari con la forza della disperazione. Brozovic segna il primo goal al 17° minuto grazie ad un errore della difesa bianconera in uscita dalla propria area, mentre il connazionale Perisic raddoppia nei primi minuti della ripresa.
Con un tempo ancora da giocare, la montagna da scalare non sembra più così alta per l'Inter, che coraggiosamente continua ad attaccare e in una delle ultime azioni trova il fallo da rigore su Perisic, che permette ancora a Brozovic di segnare il rigore del 3-0.
Nei minuti di recupero l'Inter sfiora addirittura la quarta rete, ma si va ai tempi supplementari, nei quali, dopo una parata miracolosa del portiere juventino Neto in apertura, sono proprio gli ospiti a sfiorare più volte la rete della qualificazione, ottenuta tuttavia solamente ai calci di rigore.
La Juventus vincerà anche quell'edizione della Coppa Italia, ma questa partita, caratterizzata da un atteggiamento follemente rinunciatario e superficiale, è una delle tante prese ad esempio dai tifosi della Vecchia Signora per spiegare la loro poca stima nei confronti dell'ex allenatore Massimiliano Allegri.
La vittoria più larga della Juventus
Inter-Juventus 2-6 (19 giugno 1975)
Dopo aver entrambe passato il girone eliminatorio, Juventus ed Inter vengono inserite all'interno dello stesso Gruppo B di semifinale, insieme a Milan e Bologna, detentore del trofeo e si affrontano a San Siro alla penultima giornata, per mantenere vive le speranza della conquista del primo posto valevole per il passaggio in finale.
I bianconeri scendono in campo con un piglio diverso rispetto agli spaesati avversari, e riescono a passare in vantaggio alla prima azione d'attacco, con Anastasi; dopo il pareggio di Boninsegna tocca a Viola riportare avanti gli ospiti, che nel secondo tempo andranno in goal ancora quattro volte, prima del rigore finale trasformato da Boninsegna per il definitivo 2-6.
Nonostante i due successi finali sulle squadre milanesi, la Juventus si qualificherà seconda nel girone, dietro al Milan, destinato tuttavia a perdere la finale contro la Fiorentina.
