So, today I am going to complete my achievement3 , Thanks to the admins & moderators of this community.
I want to say that, after reading The Complete Steemit Etiquette Guide (Revision 2.0) by @cryptotofiend, I have learn a lot about steemit that how we can work on Steemit like a professional writer. My advise for new users to read the articles of @cryptokannon & @cryptotofiend to better understand the Steemit.
So, let's start with achievement 3 task.
What is Plagiarism ?
In simple words, Plagiarism is the practice of copying someone else's work and passing them as your own without mentioning or without giving credit to the original Author.
Or We can say that, "Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work " source
How to avoid plagiarism?
Plagiarism can be intentional or unintentional. In Intentional plagiarism people deliberately use plagiarized content but unintentional means they don't follow the rules & even they don't know that they have plagiarized the content which they wrote in their documents or articles. So, Plagiarism is a crime whether you do it intentionally or unintentionally.
That's why I'm sharing some tips with you which may help you to avoid plagiarism in future.
Tips to avoid plagiarism in your content
- You may just get the idea from other people's writing but always write in your own words.
- If it's compulsory to use other authors statement or content then you can use it by giving credit to the original author & by writing it in Quotes.
- Making slight variations in the language doesn't mean that you can be the original author of the content. If the expression is essentially the same, must give credit to the author.
- "Even if you aren't directly quoting the material, you should still document information and ideas which you use in your paper whenever they are new to you (something which you discovered in your research)."source
- Try to include examples in your article to avoid plagiarism. This way, your article will also look attractive & readers will spend more time on your page.
- At the end, If it's an educational document then you may check your documents that if they are matching with other authors or not how much is the percentage. There are many online tools available to check the plagiarism.
