This is my participation post for the "Indeed, it was a blessing in disguise contest". Hosted by our one and only @Goodybest
Blessing is a scriptural word that is used commonly by the English-speaking community. It is a positive word signifying hope for betterment in life.
Therefore "Blessing in disguise" is derived from the word Blessing. This is taken as an English Idiom which is a way of expressing something that appears to be bad at first but results in something very good in the end. For Example; Being held up in a traffic jam resulted in missing a flight, which ended up in a crash. One can say this was a blessing in disguise.
Here is my Story;
As all folktales told, it starts with once upon a time in Nigeria, there was a very booming investment platform known as "MMM", some of you are familiar with it, but for those of you who are not familiar with it, this was an online investment platform where you send money to an unknown person and wait for a month or there about to receive money from 3-4 other candidates. Everyone I knew was happy with it and investing seeing that people made millions and thousands of Naira made them want to invest more.

Someone owed my dad money and promised to pay it back in a certain period but due to circumstances, the person delayed paying back. This singular act ruined my dad's mood for days and he had planned on investing all the funds to be paid back in this MMM platform. He was likened to a hungry lion at home as he felt he was missing out once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like everyone else.
To make matters worse, his colleagues and friends would always flaunt the money they have made in his eyes, most of them seeing the returns from MMM, withdrew all their life savings to invest in MMM. I know at least 3 of his colleagues who did that, this angered my dad even more as he felt he was left in the dark missing out cause he wished to help someone with his cash. The painful part was that he couldn't withdraw from the savings to that too cause his date of birth was wrongly inputted in his Bank Verification Number (BVN) and with such investment, the banks were always busy.
When he was finally able to do the needed correction, he was asked to wait for two working days to effect the change in correction. That same evening "News Flash" Popular online investment platform MMM crashed. I could see the broad surprised-looking face of my dad staring at the newscaster on the television. This news meant people's livelihoods were gone, and all their savings were gone too. Those who couldn't bare the shame due to how they flaunted and advertised what they made earlier from the platform took their lives.

While still seated watching the news, my Dad's phone vibrated, it was the credit alert of the sum of 1.5 million naira, the exact money owed to him which he intended in using to invest in the MMM investment platform before its eventual crash. I am sure my dad's way has never been happier in a disappointment than that as his face read excitement of his money intact. There and then, looking at me, he said, "Son, every disappointment is a blessing". This was truly a blessing in disguise not just to Dad but to the entire household.
As much as we all want things to go the way we want, not everything is best for everyone.
Learn to accommodate some disappointments and not always be the perfectionist you desire as some disappointments could be a blessing in disguise in the long run.
Before investing your time, money or effort into any, do your research work as some of these platforms are just smoke screens.
No matter how much of a perfectionist you are, you would one-day encounter disappointments. Learn to accommodate them, they could be the disappointments that awaken you for the greater good.

Really interesting story you have here for us my friend, life doesn't always have a favourite, so we should learn to accommodate disappointment too.

Yes o I knew mmm that year. I was spared too from that investment. Wow your story is really very touching. Your dad was thinking his own was the worse not knowing that the worse was yet to come.
Sometimes when things happen to us we feel that God is been slow with us or we are been delayed not knowing that all things is actually working for our good.
