Experience of my 5+ years Journey on Steemit

in Incredible Indialast year (edited)

When I started my journey on Steemit, I never imagined I would get this far and get so committed. When I started I was not even serious. I did it because my hubby recommended it to me. I would make one post a week and for 3 months it continued in that manner. The whole thing was so new to me, I was kind of scared confronting it and learning it. I felt like I was in an alien space. The only thing that kept me coming back to the platform was my love for writing. I made many mistakes at the beginning and there were some kind souls to guide me. There were some nasty souls as well to bombard me. I would see people majorly writing on Cryptos and technical stuff and I was feeling so out of place. I would keep feeling this place is not for me.

The first 2 months I was just doing somethings which I now look back and feel so stupid. There was no god father or god mother. There were no communities who would give a helping hand, there were no onboarding teams to guide. It was more like you find your own way if you want to exist.

But then God was kind enough, I came across some Angels on this platform who started guiding me. Probably they felt I was lost in this space. Today I feel that the timely help that came to me just when I wanted to quit was, because I was destined to be here for a long time. These Angels started giving me support, they made me understand the system. I started participating in contest and started getting visibility. I also found my own comfortable space where I could write what I enjoyed, that was on Crystals, Healing, Psychology, Travelling. I started to understand that the platform had space for everyone, it was just about exploring. By end of 4 months I was making 10$ a post minimum and then I started receiving some very big supports and suddenly my earnings were 200$ a post, yes no exaggeration to that. You can go and check my post 5 years back. There were some posts where I received 400$ votes and that was the high for me to never look back again.

Then came a time when Steemit had a split and Hive was formed and I continue being on Hive as well. At that point of time I thought of quitting Steem as once again I was feeling lost. All those who were in my journey with me had moved to Hive and stopped here. I powered down my stakes also but was waiting for the right time to make the conversion of my Steem to Hive. Again, guess I was destined to continue here and that conversion never happened. For a year I was in dilemma to continue or not. Finally I took the decision to continue and power up my stake. Since I have my own financial goals to meet I would like my different sources of income to keep growing for some more time. Though I had mixed feeling because my work was not getting recognized any more. It was becoming more of a vote exchange thing. Anyways now it's a different scene and I still continue being here.

I would like to share some tips from my journey so far;

  • People will come and go, many people will cross your paths, some for a longer period and some for short. Important thing is to have your own strategy and not rely too much on others for your growth. After all this is a decentralized platform, do what makes you feel good and right but in the boundaries of your own integrity.
  • Have a goal in mind for what you are working. That will make your journey structured and you will be focused on what you want to achieve.
  • Take it as your job where you would want to commit wholeheartedly
  • Engage with people around you. It may not be possible all the time, but do it whenever time permits. If you try to be just working in your own space in silos then you may feel alienated.
  • Have monthly/ yearly targets set, so that you know what you are aiming for and accordingly you can give your energy to your work.
  • Learn to accept the down periods also and continue. There will be ups and downs, it will never be an upward graph. From my 400$ journey, I have also continued at 5$ payouts.
  • There is a place for everyone here, you just need to find your space and comfort zone.
  • Work in your space with comfort if you want to make this a long journey. Overdoing things will stress you out and then after a point you may feel exhausted and feel like quitting.
  • Write on topics that you enjoy and things which are your passion, that will make this blogging journey interesting and a long one.
  • Focus on what you want to achieve and do not keep putting your attention on what others are achieving.

How long will I continue here?
I have decided to continue for 2 more years and then cut down by 50%. I am not sure as of now if I will ever quit 100%.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

In your writing you have highlighted your experience of working on steemit. Which is different from others and quite encouraging. And the position you currently hold on this platform is very respectable for one steemit user.

There are many operational things to do and not to do, but what I want to highlight is what my journey has taken me through from emotional perspective.

It is a trajectory with a lot of experience acquired. I've only been here for a year and I know that I have a long way to go. I'm glad you experienced those great moments at Steemit. I hope I can also experience those great moments in the near future.

Your advice is fundamental to find my own way.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I am sure with your dedication and commitment you will go a long way and do well for yourself. As of now 2 years you should dedicate for sure to this platform as not much will happen to the price till then, so it is a good time to accumulate and then when the right time comes you can take your rewards.

As a new user I got many ideas reading your post. Actually you are right that many people will talk a lot so you can't give up work and depend on other people to work. You have to move forward by doing your own work. So please pray for me so that I can move forward by working regularly inshallah. Thank you very much for giving us such a beautiful post. Be well and be healthy

Do your work with utmost honesty and it will pay back to you, do not bother about who is achieving what, then you will be happy and you will progress well.

Undoubtedly, this is a wonderful experience for you. You have worked hard to learn, and survive on this platform till now (I appreciate it). I have seen, many people, after coming to Steemit without getting enough support and proper guidance, drop out after a few days of work! In that case, congratulations! You have successfully completed 5 years here. I really enjoyed reading about your experience from the beginning till now and got confidence in my mind. I'm a little disappointed not to get proper support! However, these words in your post will give me the courage to move forward. In my opinion, this is an inspiring post. Thanks a lot for presenting the whole thing to us in such an outstanding way. Again, Congratulations @nainaztengra

Thank you for your kind words @sumon247. True, a lot of people give up very fast and even I would have done that if not for the right support at the right time. I have seen you are 6 months into this and what I can say is you are doing well for yourself. Just do not give up. 1 steem may look very negligible to you right now, but when the price moves up, every single steem will matter and you will feel good that you did not give up. Earning 800+ steem in 6 months is not bad at all. You are doing very well.

Thank you very much @nainaztengra for your valuable reply. Your every word is really valuable and I personally like the words. I will restart today to work at full speed. Till then take care, be happy and keep the smile on your face. 🙂
