Dear reader - Steem has been renamed to Hive since May 2020. My content therefore has moved with me to Hive, and I hope to see you there: peakd.com/@soyrosa.

It was - good memories too though! :-)

Wow... just like that, you ended up permanently damaging your foot? That's insane... sorry it had to happen like that and that it could happen like that :(

The diversity of our life stories is so interesting sometimes, thanks for sharing this piece of your story <3

Yes, just like that! I guess it's a great example that matches the saying 'Life happens while you're busy making other plans' :-)

Thanks for taking the time to read @redrica! Our life stories exist of many pieces of a puzzle, this is a significant one for me :-)

Wow thats an amazing but sad story. Sorry to hear that you did not finish your sabbatical.

Yes, that was quite a big blow and took some time to recover from - both emotionally and physically ;-) Thanks for reading and commenting!

sigh

I've had a day of mourning my physical past. For some reason I'm feeling fragile today, and older than ever. It isn't the same as your injury, and I do wish your foot had never been damaged. Life is as uneven as those stairs, I guess, and we must walk them as best we can, with as much grace as we can muster. Blessings, my friend.

Thank you for a very sweet comment @katrina-ariel. 'Mourning my physical past' resonates. I have a lot of mourning to do, not just 'the foot' but years of physical limitations. So I understand what you mean. Some days we would really love to leave the body for a while and enjoy our spirit without the weight. (For me swimming helps me get close to that point.)

Wishing you strength :-)

Swimming is a wonderful way to find freedom, I agree. Big hugs. Strength to you as well!

I have not read the text yet I will return for it again!
but I love the photo. it has a perfect rhythm and tone!
congratulations dear<3

Thank you @artizm! :-) Hope you'll find time to read the story! Thanks for loving the photo :-)

Despite your problem with your foot, you are still travelling when and/or where it is possible. I think this is a positive attitude. Hope your limited mobility will be solved in the earliest future maybe thanks to this fast evolution or technologies or science or both. I do not know I just hope so.

Thank you @philfreetotravel - I do indeed! :-) I am also still hoping some wonder doctor will arise and fix the problem, who knows! A lot of research is being done daily and especially stem cell treatments are something I'm personally rooting for since it seems to be able to fix a lot of problems.

Thanks for commenting! :-)

Really sorry to hear about your foot and that right at the beginning of such a long journey. Looking forward to hear how you were coping!

Thanks @for91days! :-) I'm making it a series with both serious and more fun anecdotes surrounding the 'coping', so you'll be able to read about it for sure! :-)

I do feel bad for you but you seem to take it in stride and it I am glad it has not stopped your traveling. What an amazing adventure, despite the foot pain.

It is true that it is much more interesting to hear of the 'average' persons ability to overcome things. I'm not really big on celebrity and don't even know of that many so often if someone is talking about someone I just smile and nod as I often haven't a clue who they are talking about. :)

Haha, same here @donnadavisart! I often have no idea and there are even games where you are supposed to know a lot of celebrity names and I always try to avoid playing those :')

Thanks for commenting! I have never stopped traveling but I've had to adapt of course :-) Maybe it has made me want to travel even more - you never know when it will get even harder ;-)

I fell twice while on a trip to Greece 17 years ago and after coming home finally went to a doctor, telling her that I fall too much and asking why. She ran some tests and it was determined that I have Multiple Sclerosis. I don't have a picture of the steps I fell down, but know what you mean about uneven steps that are not uniform!

It is once we challenge ourselves we might either overcome OR discover our boundaries! You and I had a 'discovery' - it's good to know what label comes with it so you can start working on making life easier though, that's the positive of it. Sorry to hear you have MS, hope you found ways to work with/around it, that has been my biggest struggle so far.

Wowww so you don't know how you injured the tiny bone in your foot?? Aw man, I'm so sorry about your foot. Thanks for the reminder though to be grateful for things that we take for granted. At least you're still finding ways to beat it and travel!

Yes, that is true! I'm glad I'm still traveling :-)
No, there's not a really 'good' explanation for the injury other than there might have been a childhood development problem and an already weakened bone got challenged a bit too much on those stairs :-)
