My 28 day sugar detox days 10 and 11 - fading away!
So, when I started this detox I weighed 75Kgs(165lbs) and after just ten days I weighed myself and I was 73Kgs. Thats a lot of weight to lose quickly when I am already a small guy - especially frustrating because I have been going to the gym and trying to build muscles. Its amazing when you cut out sugar how much more difficult it is to get in the right amount of calories. I am a typical ‘hard gainer’ that finds it hard to gain weight/muscle/fat but easy to lose it.
Its much easier to eat 1000 calories of donuts than 1000 calories of brocolli! I think I need to bulk up my meals with more carbs and also more healthy fats.
My battle with the morning oats continues! Today I tried mixing in some peanut butter - it did taste better but the consistency was a bit like glue so it was a bit hard to eat. Luckily I found some vanilla! I have been looking for this and im hoping it will solve the problem of the flavourless oats - it is hard to get the right flavours without sugar but I will keep trying!
Today for lunch we pretty much had KFC (homemade style of course!) really easy - mashed potato, coleslaw (with homemade mayo!) and roasted chicken.
The recipe for the homemade mayonnaise:
1 cup light oil
½ clove crushed garlic
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 egg
1 tablespoon wholegrain mustard
To make it combine all the ingredients and mix with a hand blender (make sure to push it right to the bottom and slowly lift the blender). Easy!
Although I feel like the worst of the cravings are over I still need to ‘keep on the straight and narrow’. I feel like the next few days will be crucial to not get anything sugary and ruin all my hard work.

I used to be the guy you are.
Now this work from home job has got me some unwanted fat.
Maybe even i should consider quitting Sugar.
its really bad!
Yeah I fell some day when Im 40 I will look back at myself with envy and think how hard it has become to keep skinny haha. Yeah I reccomend giving it a go ! Blogging about it is really helping actually :) Makes you accountable
Keep up the good work. Also - perhaps consider a protein supplement, especially if you are currently still working out in the gym. The muscles would love you for it (more so than the carbs)...
Thanks for the support! Yeah I usually have protein powder (need to order some more). I think I have enough protein but just need more calories in general!
How many grams of protein would you have in a day?
I aim for about 1 to 1.2 times my weight in pounds so about 180 grams of protein a day. What would you reccomend?
I think some people overdo the protein...
Oops, sorry, I missed seeing this. I can't remember now if I had some particular thought in my mind about this when I asked. But that sounds reasonable. I muscle test regularly for how much protein to have, and consistently get 120gm a day. Given that my ideal weight is about 140ish pounds, that is about 1.2 times. Though I'm not doing the weight training you are, at present. It might go up a bit when I get back to that.
No problem. I think maybe I should be eating a bit more protein.... Although my focus is going to be on 'bulking' which means upping the calories in general.
