Prospective Winners of Mission To Minnow (MTM) Challenge #3; @turpsy, @sussan, @honourmaus (Including the Budget For Their Tickets To Steemit In Nigeria Conference)

in #growth-projects7 years ago (edited)

The Redfishpillar project, @redfishpillar , is interested in sponsoring two (2) newbies (<1 million vests/500 SP), who participated in the mission to minnow (MTM) challenge #2 and #3 to win an all expense paid ticket to the upcoming Steemit In Nigeria (SIN) Conference.

Sponsoring newbies (partially)to Steemfest 2 is one of the goals of the redfishpillar project. However, since there is going to be a similar event, SIN, I felt that it would be better to sponsor 2 newbies instead to the event in Nigeria. Please, see latest update on SIN from the team lead @ehiboss

Contestants and Prospective Winners of Mission To Minnow (MTM) Challenge #3

Six (6) newbies contested (4 males, 2 females) as shown in the MTM challenge #3 update post. They are

@turpsy, @kingxy, @honourmaus, @dray91eu, @sweetestglo-eu and @sussan. After thoughtful consideration of the entries of all 6 participants and consultations with some Steemians  of repute, three (3) out of the six (6) have emerged as prospective winners of MTM challenge #3. These three (3) are @turpsy, @sussan, @honourmaus. Please, see entries here

Why Prospective Winners?

I could easily declare 2 people (a male and female) winners of the MTM challenge #3 and contest. However, I have a challenge here which I would like the community to help me overcome in fairness to the 3 prospective  winners and considering my budget too. For the MTM contest, besides the ability of contestants to communicate well their vision to better Nigeria, I am also looking at newbies who are already community builders by either leading a team or actively a team player/member of an already existing community.

The Steemian @turpsy

As a steemian who is almost 4 months old (117 days), @turpsy is very active in the AfricaUnited community. He is no doubt an author in the academia and an amazing team member of the Africa United group with a unique quality, which I have identified in him and admire so much. He has the competitive advantage of mastery of writing in 3 languages; English, Yoruba and Spanish, which can be used for steem-promo in Nigeria, Mexico and other places where English, Spanish and Yoruba are widely spoken. There are translations of blog posts to Spanish and Yoruba from English which I have seen. Please, check out this post to learn more about @turpsy.

My challenge for not outrightly declaring @turpsy one of the winners of the MTM challenge and contest #3 is distance from where he is presently (Mexico) to Nigeria. Elijah, @turpsy, lives and studies in Mexico. The airfare to Nigeria from Mexico and back is one that I wouldn't really be able to afford. However, If I get the support of benevolent Steemians for flight ticket (return) for @turpsy, then I would be able overcome this challenge.

The Steemian @sussan

Sussan, @sussan,  is a 2 month (76 days) old Steemian, whom I really don't know much about, except from the MTM challenge #3 contest video, personal chat with her in steemit.chat and very recently her post in steemit untalented contest organized by @surpassinggoogle, steemit witness for @steemgigs

Three (3) key things I understand about @sussan from listening to her contest video and reading her blog post as stated above are

  • She is willing to promote steemit and has a plan to sign-up 1,000 new people in 2 months
  • She would like to contribute in giving aid to the people who experienced natural disaster in Benue State, Nigeria
  • The third is a quote from @sussan's entry post for the untalented contest, showing her as one who wants to add value and be heard.
To my steemit friends -someone who likes making friends, who wants to add value, and likes to be heard.

The Steemian @honourmaus

Emmanuel, @honourmaus, a 3 month (92 days) old Steemian,  a member of AfricaUnited community, ''Euronation'' led by @eurogee and team lead of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) steemit community. Please, read his last update on the LAUTECH community. Clearly a team leader and one who motivates himself and others to grow, I believe that @honourmaus has the capacity to communicate the vision of steemit and steemit in Nigeria (SIN) to his people in LAUTECH and motivate them enough to run with it. In the MTM challenge #3 contest video, he said and I quote

Steemit is a platform that reward ideas

I think @honoumaus had a good understanding of the concept of proof-of-brain, prior to  the launch of the steemit blue paper. Listen to the audio version of the blue paper shared by @reseller

The Budget For Winners of Mission to Minnow Challenge #3

I drew up a budget for the winners of the MTM challenge #2 and#3  to the SIN conference.

Budget Table For Winners Of Ticket To Steemit In Nigeria (SIN) Conference

Please note: Calculations of steem and Nigeria naira (NGN) are estimated based on the current value of steem and naira. The figures were rounded up.

Hotel Accommodation For Winners

It is my desire to lodge the winners at Hotel De Treasure, Ille-Ife Osun State, for 2 nights as shown in the table above and in line with the promise of package for winners at the beginning of the contest. Please, read hotel accommodation room rates from @gbenga's update in preparation for the SIN event.

Transport For Winners

Winners of the MTM challenge and contest #3 will be given transport fares to and from their places of residence in Nigeria. Please, read carefully an excerpt regarding package for winners from the opening of the contest (MTM challenge #2) post, which would be highlighted below

The winners who will emerge in this MTM contest for SIN conference will have as package from sponsor(s)
Transport fare to and from city of residence
Hotel accommodation for 2 nights (2nd and 3rd of November)
Visit to tourist attraction sites, which the event organizing team members will chose
Please note: In the event that transport, accommodation and visit to tourist centre exceeds the budget, then the package will exclude visit to tourist centre.

Special thanks to @oluwoleolaide (team lead of the @steem-lagos team) for supporting @redfishpillar with 20 Steem to sponsor 2 newbies to the SIN event. Please, more support is needed by way of upvotes on this post, reblogging this post to reach wider audience and Steem/SBD donations. Thank you.

Finally, once the 2 final winners are selected, Steem will be sent to winners in 3-4 weekly installments, starting from this week, since it is understood  that the event is just 25 days away.

Many thanks to witness @roelandp for initiating @steemfest and @ehiboss for initiating steemit in Nigeria (SIN).

What are your general thoughts on this content? Which of the 2 newbies should be selected as final winners of the MTM challenge #3? Please, share your thoughts in the reply section below. I would love to hear them.

Wishing them a wonderful time at the conference. Most importantly, I hope that they use whatever they will learn at the conference to better Nigeria and the world at large. I like to run with you, @greenrun. Cheers, dear.

Eh? You're not coming?

I just may, but the odds aren't looking too good.

Kudos to you @maryfavour. The winners really have something positive to contribute to steemit growth. Hope to see them at the event.

Wow! You are always carrying redfish steemians like your blood!

It's a joy to see you here, @smyle. The idea and reason for doing what I do here is to ensure that we all grow in steemit. Honestly, I don't want to grow alone. I'd like others to rise as well. The world will be a much better place , if we help lift others up. Thank you so much for the commendation, goodwill and continual support. Steem on!

Your reply ma encapsulates my belive for steemit and even every where one is. When people around us are comfortably growing, there would be peace around us. Thanks for taking this bold step of support ma.

The set out plans for the SIN is a beautiful one.
As you well explained,The 3 runner up are worthy to be picked but you cant do more than you can carry, even the SIN project still need more funds. With all said, @sussan and @honourmaus should be picked
I strongly believe that soon SIN would be so great that money wont be discussed when hosting events

Thank you so much, @jeaniepearl, for your suggestion to select @sussan and @honourmaus.

...even the SIN project still need more funds.

I have observed this too. Anyway, let's hope for more contributions towards hosting of SIN. Sponsoring two (2) newbies to steem and giving suggestions to team members, is my own way of supporting the SIN event. So, I agree with you that I cannot do more than my best. Cheers.

Congratulations to the winners... Thank you ma for always helping the redifish/minnows.. God's blessings as always.

Thank you so much for your support, @sweetestglo-eu.

Thank you ma for always helping the redifish/minnows.. God's blessings as always.

You are welcome, sister. Amen!!! God's blessings on you too.

Wow. This is beautiful. Really, the three contestants deserve to be there, but the peg had been placed. They all have the qualities to raise the steemit flag high. I'm impressed and I can't wait to receive them here in Ile ife.
