Horizons Ablaze. Simply Sublime!

"Horizons Ablaze."

This image called, "Horizons Ablaze," was the climax of my Sublime and Beautiful Sunday. The vibrancy of the setting sun with the dark sihouettes was a truly amazing way to say, "Good Night" to what was a wonderful day. This scene was captured at Scarborough Reef in Queensland, Australia.

But before the night closed in John and I took the route to the beach which passed the former home of the Bee Gees. This unpretentious, wooden, high-set home is where the Bee Gee's grew up after leaving England as young boys.

They visited here on one of their nostalgic visits 'Home,' a few years ago and it triggered many happy memories for them. The present home owners were thrilled to receive these famous 'Redcliffe Boys' back and allowed them space and time to inspect the rooms and share amusing and touching anecdotes.

Their visit of course made headlines in our local rag and Redcliffe citizens read about many of the escapades told by the Bee Gees themselves. Some of which included jumping off the Redcliffe Jetty, diving down into the waters to look for sunken treasure and petty thieving from the supermarket. And of course their first gig at the Filmers Palace Hotel in Woody Point.......and the rest is history.

The bright yellow Twining Guinea Flowers (Hibbertia Scandens) drape fences and form hedges along the sidewalk as we head towards the yacht club.

It's now close to dinner time now so customers are begining to order takeaways at the Bay Boat Corner Shop. It's been a while since I bought anything from there. The view from here is fabulous as it overlooks the sea and the Glasshouse Mountains in the distance.

The afternoon sun cast an appealing glow on the yachts and created reflections on the calm water.

As we rounded the bend at the northern end of our walk I spotted a cute little bird enjoying the view. I'm not sure what type of bird he is but I hope to find out soon. The sun was sinking low and we decided to stay and watch as the vista changed minute by minute.

We were soon blessed with some awesome sights as the rays of the sun reached across the stretch of water towards the rocks where we were sitting. It felt like the sun was bestowing its warmth and beauty towards us and us alone, but of course that is the magic of a sunset.

And I just can't help it. I have to share this image again as it was the last thing we saw before we reluctantly headed home. It's interesting to note that prior to the sunset John and I found ourselves deep in conversation but the glory of the setting sun, silenced us. Words felt intrusive in these moments so we allowed the sunset to speak......and oh how eloquent she was!

That's cool. I never knew Bee Gees has something to do with Australia. :-)

Oh yes......The Bee Gees imigrated to Redcliffe in 1958 and later moved to Sydney in 1963 to 1966 returning to England at the end of 1966. But we claim them as our Redcliffe sons because Barry says this is where his fondest childhood memories come from @ace108

Thanks so much for your welcome support. It is much appreciated.

Awesome post and photos @trudeehunter! The Bee Gees Place is cool and just their mention brings back some nice memories! Beautiful sunset and another great bird photo!! ❤

Thank you so much @deerjay I think all the Bee Gees current homes are quite a bit different from this one. Some homes hold special memories that cannot replaced. It is sad that only Barry is left. their story is quite remarkable. I really appreciate you visit and support my friend. xox

You're very welcome!! It was sad to lose three of the Gibb brothers (including Andy). I watched a tribute the Bee Gees did for Andy on YT and it just brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad that Barry continued on with the music!!

That blazing horizon is STUNNING - love it, such an amazing combination of the sea, read sky and that super straight path - it's like it takes you on a journey to the sea!

I love that yellow flower, never seen one like that before. And the boat in the dock are amazing lined up like soldiers, the bird is fascinating - it looks a little like a cross being a seagull and something else - I hope you find out what it is.

A super post and day to share for #SublimeSunday - thank you so much I throughly enjoyed reading through this one.
