Has Been Heroes Review: Persistence pays - Fun for patient gamers

For Nintendo you are already a hero if you bought a Switch. But the next mission is to make you feel a hero in a game. That should have been Frozenbyte's developer. In this Has Been Heroes review you will read how the Finnish developer tries.

Frozen byte. Where do we know that name? Especially from Trine trilogy. Beautiful games with a fairy-tale décor and a striking match with Has Been Heroes: three characters that are central. With this, every comparison is gone. Where Trine is 1, 2 and 3 true platform games, Has Been Heroes can be considered a rogue-like strategic action game. A mouthful, about which more. The game is for sale for 24.99 euros online or 44.99 if you prefer a (imported) physical version .

Thrown for the lions

You can actually forget the story of Has Been Heroes. In addition to the fact that you have to bring a princess twin to school with three heroes, it's not the story you play the game for. That's fine and you've forgotten the plot soon. It does not matter. Has Been Heroes play you especially for the gameplay and the action that comes with it.

Before you start playing you only have to know one thing and that is to say no explanation is given. You will be thrown into the action immediately in Japan and will have to find out what you need to do on the spot. Because Has Ben Heroes is primarily a game you must master, and as soon as you have to discover your skills, it can deter it. Therefore, start the game especially if you have the time and have a lot of patience! Then you will see that true beauty is floating on its own.

Win the confrontation

In Has Been Heroes have three fighters in three jobs. You control a warrior, monk and a rogue. These characters will automatically walk (obviously from left to right). On the right side of the screen are enemies who meet you, giving a little sense of a duel in a war where two riders meet horses with a spear. The idea is the same: to win that confrontation, you need to act strategically and think in advance what step you make.

Has Been Heroes has a thorough system of spell combos and various items. The more hours you make, the more entries you can earn and so can apply. Initially, due to lack of experience and explanation, you will die a bit. But do not consider those hours as lost, because by those hours you learn to understand the game and get your items. Items that you become stronger.

Additionally, it's good to know that, even though the characters move automatically, after a while, you pause the game. And that makes the game very fun, because you can change jobs. Not every character is equally useful on a job and you may want to switch. This way you let the characters help each other.

Have patience!

What's fun, but frustrating at the same time, is the way the enemies are facing you. Those are arbitrarily generated. So there is no match, as is the case with the rogue game of Soedesco : Rogue Stormers . Sometimes it results in the fact that you soon get past the enemies, but sometimes it is frustrating to do this. Just think of the game, something else happens on your screen. A difficult story. But it remains a matter of patience, playing game hours and learning from your mistakes. For the one, this is a golden formula because you are rewarded for your hard work (one progression book!), The other has no patience for that.

It's also a pity that you can not save the game in the meantime. You have to get everything at once and therefore the threshold for many gamers is too big to boot such a game. A Switch is by no means a hybrid console, ideal for taking along and quickly playing a game between a game. With Has Been Heroes you can only do that if you've mastered the game.

Blood, sweat, tears and success ..

So you should wonder if Has Been Heroes is a title for you. And you have to compare it especially with Trine. However, i must be honest and admit that Has Been Heroes is a good game. Most things have been considered and there is quite a lot of freedom to play and learn. So who pumps really for hours in the game is rewarded.

In addition, there is a high playability. Thus you start with two arenas and two bosses. But once you've played that, the game continues with three arenas and three bosses. Then with four, and so forth. This will take place for a while, so you can play the game more and more often. Every time you get it again you will release new spells, enemies and objects. And last but not least : a new hero. In short, it really pays to make hours!

Conclusion

All in all, Has Been Heroes is a good and fairly deep game. But one for the transgressor and gamers with patience. That's why the game is not for everyone. you look at the Switch offer, Has Been Heroes striking. Another such title is not there and therefore there is well hooked in need of some gamers. Do you want to strategically brush a jar? Then you can buy with confidence Has Been Heroes!

➕ Challenging
