Star Wars Battlefront II Preview - Singleplayer
Star Wars Battlefront appeared at the end of 2015 and was purely focused on the multiplayer. It missed the game to a single player and soon it was seen as a miss. Also because the game itself was not a bully of content. That was later straightened somewhat with the extensions, but the lack of a single player still exists today. Star Wars Battlefront II takes it differently, as well as an extensive multiplayer and well-filled Arcade mode, the game now includes a single player and we have two hours to play.
Getting Started for The Empire
In the single player you step into the shoes of Iden Versio, a young lady who is the daughter of Gerrick Versio, an admiral of the Imperial Security Bureau. The single player begins when she is captured by alliance, but with her ID10's drove she knows how to escape. From there the story developed from the Empire perspective, which puts everything in order to stop the rebels. That produces a single player that takes a perspective of another side and that is quite interesting.
She is the leader of the Inferno Squad and she is sent on troublesome missions, but she can do that because she and her team are elite soldiers. In this way you will be confronted with action in the single player on the conveyor belt. After the escape you soon end up at Endor where you will experience the destruction of the second Death Star. That causes the Empire to defend itself defensively and with the help of her and her companions, they try to turn away the danger. How deeply finalized in the single player will be awaiting yet, but the first two hours gave a good impression of the gameplay.
Continuous alternation
The single player is as far as we can play a pleasant part of the game. At a relatively high rate, different areas are repeatedly designed with care. For example, Endor's forest looks very pleasant and, as a matter of fact, you fly between space waste in a TIE fighter, which gives a completely different view. In exchange, so no defect and the story seems to be put together with due care. Pick up the impressive cut-scenes here and you'll have a nice adventure.
The gameplay itself was very varied during our play session. To force the escape in the first place, we soon get into ID10's metal skin to step into Iden's shoes and follow the adventure as a shooter. In addition, you have the choice to play the game from a first-person perspective, but you can also play it in third-person. It's just what you like most, the game offers you at least both options. The action in itself goes like any other shooter, so you move from one location to another and in the meanwhile everyone hurts, feeling very fluent while playing.
However, what makes the single player fun is that it fires new parts at a good pace. For example, the single player started with the droid, afterwards first or third person action, then switching to gameplay with a TIE fighter. All this is also completely seamless, so there is no interruption in the gameplay. You will need to take some charging times at the start, but afterwards you have a continuous adventure without being disturbed while playing. Of course, the moments of gameplay are changing with cut scenes, but everything goes smoothly.
It is clear that DICE wants to offer you a nice adventure, and although the story is still in some cases still hidden, it looks like it's a solid whole. The two hours we've been able to play brought in a lot of variation in gameplay and we also did various locations that will not bore soon. Whether it's the ultimate Star Wars singleplayer is awaiting yet, but it's a relief to play such an adventure on today's platforms. Let's be aware, that's too long ago, especially when we talk about quality.
DICE motivates you
Ultimately, the multiplayer is what it's all about, but DICE has found a handy way to motivate the single player to play, as well as the Arcade mode. The single player currently consists of 12 missions and if you play them all, you can go to your career page. Here you can see the current progress in the game and completing single player missions and corresponding assignments, actually delivering something. This way you will receive 500 credits per completed mission, a special action 25 craft points and collecting collectibles will deliver you in-game currency.
The same goes for Arcade mode, where you can only go through all kinds of combat scenarios in coop or versus setup. Completing these scenarios not only teaches you the possibilities, characters and weapons, but also provides you with extra credits and more that you can claim in the career screen. This is all focused on the overall progress in the game, as many multiplayer components are shielded at the start. By playing the multiplayer you will unlock certain things, but also the necessary content will be hidden in loot crates. You can buy (of course) real money, but you can also earn your earned credits.
So pay attention to the singleplayer and Arcade mode, as you will always keep up with it. Nevertheless, the single player in this respect is an isolated whole, because it provides you with various weapons, Star Cards and more. Playing progression in the single player allows you to release Star Cards to provide you with a number of benefits. Now a multiplayer is soon susceptible to micro-transactions, but that's not all about the single player, and vice versa, playing this mode gives you currency and extras for the multiplayer. In short, DICE motivates you in a great way to play the single player and it seems to be worth it too.
Preliminary conclusion
The introduction of the single player of Star Wars Battlefront II has made me very positive. It looks beautiful and varied, the gameplay is very smooth and the pace is good. Also, the fact that you get different gameplay parts at a fairly high pace makes feel very good, because that's just fun for playing. It is also nice that DICE has given attention to the details, gameplay and the story at first sight, and presents it as a self-contained whole, which subsequently yields extra to the multiplayer. No nonsense, just a nice extra to motivate you to try everything next to the multiplayer.

I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of star wars. I've barely watched one of the franchise's films, let alone all of them! My friends, who are bigger fans of the series than myself, persuaded me to get the battlefront game back in 2015. Even though I haven't been a big fan, I was upset with the outcome of the game. Therefore, I'm really hoping EA take steps away from their money greed and focus more of us as the end consumer!
