Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga Bowsers Minions Review - Tough Adventure!

Mario and Luigi have been together for adventure for decades. Just a few days and the circumcised plumbers return to the year in which their first adventure started together. A repeat of putting? Read it in my Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga Bowsers Minions review.

Mario and Luigi have been an inseparable duo for decades, but the two benign brothers just became truly internationally famous when the first part came into their joint adventure series. That game, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, is still one of the most legendary RPGs of Nintendo ever after fourteen years. This is thanks to simply iron-rich gameplay, laughing self-spot and a delicious colorful style.

Experienced everything

After that, the brothers have had a lot of experience: traveling through time, dreaming in Luigi's head to fight in the belly of Bowser. Piece of memorable adventures, but we must also be honest: they did not get near that unforgettable battle in 2003, with the brothers doing everything to restore the stolen voice of Princess Peach.

For fans who can not get enough of this adventure, and of course for the younger guild who never got the chance to experience it, Nintendo has returned the game to the drawing board for a full-fledged remake for the 3DS. Big improvements are (of course) the graphics, this time three-dimensional characters and environments, and a brand-new mode that shows the adventure from a completely different perspective.

Nevertheless, the wonderful intro of Superstar Saga (goddessank) is identical to the original. On a deadly day, Mario and Luigi come to the castle of Princess Peach in summer. A shy road, which brings the message alway, brings Luigi to the front yard. He is hanging up the laundry and refers to the little help from the princess to the cottage beyond where Mario is refreshing.

The little Toad scares a hat: in the bathroom there is a half-naked plumber, fresh draft and smiles as always. At events he hears the story of Toad, on which the circumcised Italian head crosses, and Luigi takes the complete clothesline towards the castle. In the meanwhile, our heart crashes: what did Nintendo do her best to revive the game: the colors of the screen and the irresistible songs nest right in our minds.

Silly way

Once arrived in the castle it is completely wrong. A witch, acting as ambassador to the Greenlandic kingdom of BeanBean Kingdom, knows how to evade the voice of Princess Peach. This of course, to great grief of Mario, Luigi and the many other inhabitants of the kingdom. Even Bowser is near despair, why should he kidnail a princess who has no voice left?

And so, in Superstar Saga, the impossible happens: the plumbers and their arch enemy join forces to retrieve the fabulously beautiful voice of the princess. What follows is a long-running, but almost amazing, tour of BeanBean Kingdom's many diverse landscapes and locations: from abandoned castles, hip universities and hawthorn beaches to dark forests, cork-dried deserts and giant ships.

Clear an airport!

The way the plumbers move through these environments still happens in the same way. Mario walks at the front while his green-dressed brother walks behind him sharperly. You can let them jump at the same time or individually, sometimes needed to solve puzzles. Also, the two brothers each have their own specialties. For example, Luigi can take his brother back and jump so higher and Mario can cause a vortex, allowing the brothers to bridge gaping holes.

The further you get into the story, the deeper and more distant these puzzles become. For example, the brothers have to evacuate an airport and repair pipelines while dyeing a pair of ugly dresses and collecting jewels in a mine. At these moments, you notice how much Superstar Sage's gameplay has met the time of the day. Without exaggeration, the game is still playing as one of the best role-playing games ever featured on a portable game machine.

Antsweet party

The turn-based fights in which the brothers turn over may attack or defend, stay entertaining and require a lot of your mind-certainly by the end of the game. There is therefore a surprising layer of possibilities under the feathery party party. For example, Mario and Luigi can rise in levels and strengthen their properties, such as their health, attack power and speed. In addition, there are various items and items for sale to help you improve the skills of the brothers.

And then there are also some special skills. In most cases, these attacks are carried out by the brothers together, such as an acrobatic super jump that causes unbelievable damage. You should usually take good care of this because you have to press the buttons more often in the right moments.

Captain Goomba, at your service!

For the experts, it is so far known to be well known. But the biggest change in Superstar Saga has so far been omitted. You play in this remake with Bowser's entire army, like Mario and Luigi, with many other things. In Bowser's Minions, a mini-story that runs parallel to the events in Superstar Saga, you crawl into Captain Goomba's skin and you must master you with other subjects.

This quest is as hilarious as distorted, just as you're used to by Nintendo. By now, you will increasingly find nationals who can add you back to your combat groups. The fights are most similar to those in Miitopia: you can choose your troops in advance and send them simultaneously. This uses a stone, paper, scissors principle.

Look behind the scenes

For example, Goombas are weak against flying enemies, which in turn dive back against hamerdring turtles. These so-called Hammer Bros do not make any difference to Goombas, and this is how the game goes on. You know in advance who you get in a fight, so you have to think carefully who you take in your team and who not.

Bowser's Minions should not be seen as a full game, but as a fun addition to the crazy story. It gives a unique look behind the scenes: what happened when their leader and Mario and Luigi were busy getting back the voice of Peach?

With a playing time of a total of about fifteen hours and only one way to the final battle Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowsers Minions is by no means the most comprehensive or extensive RPG you will play. What you get is a rather hilarious and super entertaining game that gets the laughs with great, self-mutilating dialogues.

Was a Superstar Saga remake needed? No, because even fourteen years later, the adventure on Gameboy Advance remains unmistakably high quality. Is it a successful remake? Absolutely! Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga Bowsers Minions looks better than ever and has a fantastic new mode that gives the hilarious story extra depth.
