Game Review: Metroid Samus Returns Review - She's Back, and How!

Samus Aran came in 3DS for the first time to keep his old-fashioned house again. The Metroids are allowed to sweat their pants if they can. Whether Metroid Samus Returns really goes the glorious return of Samus, you'll be read in the Metroid Samus Returns review.

The galactic federation has discovered a new planet that is actually polluted with Metroids. These universe-threatening creatures should of course be eradicated as quickly as possible. It is therefore logical that Samus is sent to the planet in order to make an even order.

Good story, very short

Want to know more about the story that is the same as Metroid II? Then you're unlucky. Metroid Samus Returns is not about telling a good story, like Metroid Other M , for example. No, in Metroid Samus Returns you must fight, shoot, jump and discover, just as you are used to.

And there's nothing wrong with that. Samus Returns goes back to his roots and has since added new elements. Thus, there is now the possibility of shooting around Samus 360 degrees, an addition to which the average Metroid fan may pick up his nose. But it makes the game play away.

Like a real Metroid game

As soon as you walk through the first area, you will notice that Metroid Samus Returns plays like a real Metroid game. Fluent, fast, dangerous, but also difficult. These terms were of course already applicable to the Metroidgames, but with this newest kid in the family, a new tipper truck has been thrown over.

In Metroid Samus Returns, you must look up the Metroids to eradicate them. You do this by area and in each area you are looking for yourself first until you find the first Metroid. No unknown gameplay for those who previously played a Metroid game. Exploring a 2D area is something that Metroidgames made its own and that's not the case with Samus Returns.

Samus Returns shows that Nintendo does not need a gigantic open world like in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild to let a player explore. Close passages and sewer pipes work just as well to let you explore every corner and hole of a level. There Nintendo can give himself a pretty shoulder knot.

Old acquaintances

Another reason that Nintendo may be proud of itself is the fights. A combat with a Metroid lets you sit at your tip from your seat, while having a handheld console with you. At first i thought the game would be too easy by the possibility of free targeting, but nothing is less true. Like a good Metroid game, Samus Returns is unforgettable when you think too easily about the different aliens.

The better it feels to have explored an area completely and to redeem the Metroids of their disgusting existence. As with other Metroid games, you'll see Samus gradually become stronger and the package will be expanded with a variety of handy additions. Think of the old acquaintances like the grapple beam and the power bomb. But because of the addition of a so-called Aeion energy, Samus can now also explore her environment with a kind of sonar, or put an overcharge mode on her gun to freak off like a raging projectile.

Like butter

Because of these additions, you'll also get on the world of Samus Returns. Actually, according to the trusted Metroid recipe. As mentioned, Metroid Samus Returns has returned to his roots and has gained some additions here and there. Similarly, the counter move, giving you the aliens a flap before you cuddle them.

Before you know, you run like a true alien murder machine by banning the planet and for you through the end of the game. Not that the game is so short, on the contrary. But because Samus Returns plays away as a machine lubricated with both creep oil and butter as petrol, you do not know that you've been in the game for so long.

Metroid Samus Returns Review - Get that game!

This brings me to the main point of criticism for the game; There is an end to it. Fortunately, you have enough reason to replay the game, for example, by not passing through savepoints, creating a kind of permadeath mode. Enough reason to try it out.

As you read, I am quite excited about this new count in the Metroid franchise and that has a good reason. The game is playing like an old-fashioned Metroid game and there is nothing wrong with it at the time. Metroid Samus Returns belongs in every collection of any self-respecting 3DS or 2DS owner at home.
