The hardcore first-person shooter genre reaches a new peak thanks to Lawbreakers! Quick action, various game modes and a varied list of character options lead to a mix of CoD: Infinite Warfare and Overwatch, but just a little different. Learn more about this game in my Lawbreaker review!

Lawbreakers takes place in a futuristic version of the world that we now know. A world where total chaos prevails. Lawbreakers is not suitable for tired eyes during an evening casual game. At high speeds you move and swipe through the anti-gravity maps while the bullets fly around your ears from all sides.

In this first-person shooter you will be placed in one of the eight maps along with four other teammates, to achieve a goal. Although Lawbreakers seems to be brainless at first glance until you kill some enemies, the game also asks for some strategy and collaboration with your teammates. Find out what you can do in this brand new FPS based on my Lawbreaker review.

Strategy and role distribution

In Lawbreakers you get the option to choose from 18 different characters and 9 different roles, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. For example, you can choose the Titan , a character equipped with an RPG, a Neutron Mine and the Crisper, which allows him to electrocute his enemies. The Titan has many health points to stay longer than other characters.

While you can also choose his counterpool, the Wraith , a mix of melee and ranged. The Wraith is equipped with an automatic gun, a small sword and unprecedented speed, to make its enemies quicker a head. The Wraith has few health points and stays alive by moving quickly over the folder and tackling enemies where they do not expect it.

A small foul in Lawbreakers is the matchmaking system. So far, you are placed in teams with players of different caliber. Newers are therefore hard to get into the game, but because the game is still new, it will undoubtedly improve.

Maps and game modes

Lawbreakers has eight different maps, each of which has its own feel and layout. Lawbreakers maps are a very important part of the game, seven of these maps have areas where gravity does not matter. These are the most chaotic areas where you can literally be shot from any direction.

There are also five different game modes, most of which resemble traditional Capture the Flag and King of the Hill modes. Of these five modes there are two real excellers, one of which is called "Occupy". In Occupy, it is your intention to conquer a certain zone with your team to collect points for your team. After a short time, this zone will disappear and a different location of the folder will be designated as the "Occupy Zone" and the team will have to move to that zone to earn points.

The second star of the game modes is "Overcharge". In the center of the folder is a battery, it has to be picked up by one of the players in your team and brought to your base. The battery must be protected for as long as the meter of your team is charged 100 percent. The opponents will have to try to restore the battery and bring it to their own base to achieve the same goal. This process will have to repeat until one of the two teams has collected enough points to win the fight.

The other game modes are not necessarily worse, but Lawbreakers is a brand new game and players will have to learn a lot until clear and fun strategies are possible. Until then, there will be a lot of useless fighting in the other game modes before it gets really fun.

Price and quality ratio

When it comes to price and quality, Lawbreakers is very good, the developers have made it clear that Lawbreakers is a one-off purchase. Literally all future DLC in Lawbreakers is free of charge, in addition to the 30 euro purchase price. New maps, new characters, new skins and cosmetics will be available to everyone. This means a lot of content for little money and we love it!

Additionally, it is possible to spend money on loot boxes containing weapon skins, character skins and other collectibles , but they will not give the player a head start on anyone else.

Lawbreakers review - A refreshing experience in the FPS genre

The overall picture looks very good so far. Lots of content for little money and fresh new gameplay within a genre that has existed for more than two decades. The game will only have to evolve as the chaos sometimes gives little room for the player's progress.

Some promised features such as ranked mode still have to appear, but Lawbreakers is definitely worth your money if you feel like shooting other players in a fast futuristic FPS !

Lawbreakers is now available on PC and Playstation 4 for 30 euros.

The plus and the drawbacks

✔ Anti-gravity
✔ Fast gameplay
✔ Nice maps
✔ Unique characters
✔ Good price and quality ratio
✖ Game modes have room for improvement
✖ Matchmaking is not alright

Thanks for reading, I hope you liked it!
