Dragon Ball FighterZ Preview - With both feet on the ground

At the beginning of this century there was suddenly the Dragon Ball Z series on television. This series was, and is still, unprecedentedly popular among the twenties and thirties nowadays. For me, it was time to get up early every weekend to hang my television in my pajamas to catch the episodes of the past week. This riot was repeated for a while, and as I got older, I also had most of Dragon Ball Z's games. We have been on for a number of years and besides growing myself, I've never bred the series. But what about this new Dragon Ball FighterZ? That's what you're going to get behind.

Welcome to the lobby

After the game is started and the well-known rugged Japanese rock music provides the menus with atmosphere; The location of the play is indicated and a server is selected, you enter the lobby. In this lobby, up to 64 different players run around with a miniature version of their favorite characters from the series. So far, only the previously known characters, such as Goku, Krillin, Vegeta and Cell, could be chosen.

The possibilities in this lobby have so far been quite limited. For example, there were three NPCs in the lobby with whom you could communicate. One NPC was gold as a news bulletin, but no news was yet available. Yet another has the ability to look back on combat replays, featuring button layouts to see how each move is done. This allows you to learn from your own mistakes in the fighting, as well as the combinations of your opponent used. The third and most important NPC is the character you allow for the arena to take it online to one of the other players in the lobby, which is the main thing about the game.

With both feet on the ground

Well, in my youth, I have had and played the many different Dragon Ball Z games as mentioned. A Budokai, a Tenkaichi or one of the many others. Most games had the same characters in the game, but often the way of fighting inside those games varied. With Dragon Ball FighterZ, I soon realized that the way of fighting is very different than I personally used to. For example, you could see complete button combinations of special attacks and build a Ki problem to fend off these attacks on your opponent.

However, in FighterZ you have four different attacks, namely Light Attack, Medium Attack, Heavy Attack and Special Attack. How to use a Kamehameha or Gallick Cannon, which you can enjoy yourself. Dragon Ball FighterZ is a bit like how I used to play football. I was a year or eight, played in the E'tjes and on the training the balls went well. With good courage, you got up on Saturday morning to practice the training in a match, then wiped 11-0 from the field. That's how I felt during the online battles, I came across to players who quickly expanded the necessary combinations and made me feel right with the floor.

When you're at home in games like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, I think you're easier as a player within the game of play in this game. If you only have experience with the previous Dragon Ball Z games, then you'll think I'll need some more time to master the game. This also makes it a lot more interesting because the learning curve in the game is significant. And that means, if done well, a long playing time.

Known areas

Prior to fighting, you team up with three characters in the series. Then you come to one of the many venues we used to from previous games: Planet Namek, World Tournament Stage or simply in West City. However, the venues in which you fight are shrunk a lot further than before, to promote the playing speed. Where in previous games you have a lot of depth in the levels, both in length and width and in the sky, you are now limited to a 2D world.

On both sides of the playing field, you come to a barrier at some point. When pressed as a player in the proverbial corner, it is quite difficult to get out of here again. Your opponent can perform a wide assault combination at these times before you can try again. Here, some space can be picked up to make the game fairer.

Fluent animations

For those folks who follow the Dragon Ball Super Series that is currently running, there is one thing that is much complained about, namely the animations in this series. These are not always as smooth as Dragon Ball Z at the time, but you do not have to worry about Dragon Ball FighterZ at all. The way the game finally looks is really very beautiful. The animations look smooth and the synchronization of the voices is that of the original Japanese voice actors. In addition to the fact that the servers have occasionally suffered from speed problems, the game finally went well and made me impressed graphically.

Preliminary Conclusion

Dragon Ball FighterZ brings the series back into a brand new jacket. The difficulty level is greatly increased compared to previous games and there are many new skills to learn. The lobby around you does not offer much specialization yet, but you may add new features to the final game. In addition, the number of playable characters was not enough, but I'm sure there are still a lot of characters to come along in the next months. All in all, the game is good, although the matchmaking system can still do something faster. Whenever there are thousands of people who want to make use of the game at once. There is a gem in the making that can be expanded mainly, but the developer still has a while. Dragon Ball FighterZ is expected to appear in February of the following year.
