Here is my submission for Fruits and Veggies Challenge started by my amazing friend Lena Vegan Living. If you are looking to change your diet to vegan her blog is a right place to start. Anyway, let's get into my submission for her challenge today. I decide to go the market today and buy a watermelon. It is one of my go to fruits during the hot summer day. Since watermelon is about 90% made out of the water it makes it perfect to hydrate our bodies and satisfies our sweet tooth. I love the taste of watermelon. It is also full of vitamins and minerals we need on daily basis. Overall I highly recommend you add the watermelon to your diet especially during the hot summer days.
I have tried many ways to eat a watermelon, and believe I have tried them all. I am basically a pro at eating watermelon. lol All the ways are good, but since watermelon is basically water we tend to mess up our shirts while we are eating it. At least I did all the time. Let's just say my mom would not be a happy camper washing my shirt from the stains of watermelon. lol So here are my two favorite way to eat a watermelon.
The first way I like to eat a watermelon is by cutting it in half. Usually, I put the half on a slightly deep tray which can fit into my fridge. Little deep so it catches all the amazing juice when I cut it. Put the watermelon on the tray facing down and cut it across horizontally and vertically. I always pull the parts cut from the middle, and work my way to outer edges. This is more a nice and civil way to eat a watermelon. lol
Which brings us to a more "savage" and simple way to eat a watermelon by taking a spoon and digging in. This is my brother's and my favorite way to eat a watermelon. We always have spoon wars while eating it or should I say it better "watermelon wars". lol Knocking down each other's scoops while we are scooping the watermelon. lol We always have a bit of fun with it. The game stops when there is no more red color inside and only white outer layers of watermelon are left. It usually looks something like the pictures under here. :)
So, my friends, I hope you will add watermelon to your diet, and use one or both of these ways to eat it. It is an amazing fruit. Let me know about your favorite way to eat a watermelon without messing up your shirt. lol I found a solution for it because I always find a way to mess up my shirt. Go, shirtless guys. Maybe not you ladies. lol If you end up having a "watermelon war" with some of your family members I would love to see a picture of it. Bon Appetit. :)

Such a wonderful entry Durko, you make me laugh......watermelon war wow, I would say if there have to be a war, then this kind is okay with me lol. Also, cutting the watermelon the way you did on the first photo is quite genius. I usually cut into 4 quarters and then sliced it to sort of triangles. But I loose lots of the precious juice and is all over the counter top lol. Thank you so much, Durko this is the kind of post that deserves a prize. Will see next week ๐๐๐๐ธ๐๐๐

Watermelon was never a part of my life in the Uk I think maybe it was so expensive but here in bulgaria they are very low cost and I have dramatically increased my intake, I like to blend the melon with a little orange juice and crushed ice on really hot days, it is the most refreshing drink ever. You have given me a thought for a future post now.
I love the watermelon cold from the fridge. For me, there is nothing more refreshing for the hot summer days. One of my favorite fruit no doubt about it. :)
