FRIED CHICKEN Freewrite
This is in response to @mariannewest's 5-minute freewrite challenge.
Btw, thanks @byn for delivering the prompt for today. I heard my stomach rumble as I read the prompt: FRIED CHICKEN.
Setting the TIMER to five minutes:
Here it goes:
After a day of play and gardening, mommy and her little one were tired and all hungry. Who wouldn't? Mommy was busy tending her very own vegetable garden - removing the weeds, and dried leaves, putting on some organic fertilizers while her little one is busy watering the plants. And for her, that is as good as playing and having fun.
The sun is about to set. In a little less than 20 minutes, it will be dinner time. Hubby will be home, hungry. Yes, Mommy went a little overboard with her gardening stuff and time passed by so quickly. She has not prepared any dinner yet, and Little One is already hungry. It is on these times that Mommy gets a little stressed especially so that when she opened the fridge, there is nothing she saw to make out of a decent dinner. They have not yet done their monthly grocery and the fridge is the proof. Empty.
With only canned Vienna sausage in the cupboard, she is left with no choice but to make that into a meal.
Dinner is set. All hungry that they are, Mommy put on her best smile and said a disclaimer that their dinner might not be the best, yet she is happy that they are all together sharing a meal. She asked her Little One and hubby to imagine the Vienna sausage as FRIED CHICKEN and we are all good to go.

When I was a kid and Mom was sick I have shared a can of Vienna sausages or Sardines and Pork-N-Beans with my Dad several times. I never could figure out why he couldn't or wouldn't cook. As soon as I was old enough I would go ahead and cook myself, I watched Mom to learn how! But Dad always talked up those canned goodies like we were getting a really special meal since Mom wasn't cooking. 😉
yeah, i thought that was canned good was special just the same since it is DAD who is preparing the meal - I opted to use prepare rather than cook. lol. Oh, the family is lucky to have moms. ^^,
